Rolex moved its headquarters from London to Geneva in 1920. The brand owners took this step because the city was internationally renowned for making the best watches in the world.
The M116231-63601 WHT ROM P MOOR Datejust watch is a beautiful piece made of Everose Rolessor. This is a material that features a combination of 18 karat Everose gold and 904 L steel. A fluted bezel has been mounted on top of the case. A white dial adds a touch of elegance to the model. The glass over the dial is the patented sapphire crystal, which prevents scratches and external damage. A Cyclops lens placed over the date allows easy viewing of the digits by magnifying them 2.5 times their actual size. The hour indexes are the same tone as the bezel and are marked by Roman numerals. In place of the twelfth hour marker, the Rolex crown has been displayed in all its beauty.
A jubilee bracelet with a five piece link is an essential part of the timepiece and is made of a combination of Everose gold and 904 L steel. The clasp used is a hidden folding crown clasp, which keeps the watch secure when worn.
The M116231-63601 WHT ROM P MOOR Datejust has a date feature located at the 3 o’clock index on the dial. It uses a self-winding mechanical movement of 3135 caliber for greater efficiency. It also uses a paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring that is patented by Rolex. This model is a certified Swiss chronometer, this means that it has been tested in different places, times and under extreme conditions and ensures smooth functioning. It uses a stop second technique in order to allow you to set time precisely to the given second. You can also use this watch while swimming or snorkeling as it is waterproof to a depth of 100 metres or 330 feet.
The Datejust collection was introduced by Rolex in the year 1945. This was the first wristwatch to display automatically changing date through an opening on the dial.
Featuring a classic design and iconic style, the Datejust features a date window located at the 3 o’clock position for your ease in viewing. The date aperture showcases the Cyclops lens on the top, the most distinctive feature of Rolex watches. This lens magnifies the date by approximately two and half times for clear legibility. The watches in this collection have an oyster case, which is clamped shut and extremely robust. The core of the oyster consists of a screw-down case and a signed screw-down crown with twinlock system. This system renders the watches water-resistant up to 100 metres, enabling you to wear them for poolside swimming and snorkelling. The Datejust watches come with two classic Rolex bracelets, either the Jubilee or the Oyster. The Jubilee is a five-piece metal link bracelet with a concealed Crownclasp fitted at the end, and the Oyster is a broad three-piece metal link bracelet, which is quite popular because of its classic appeal. These watches have a standard 36 mm case, and are equipped with a self-winding mechanical movement manufactured by Rolex, the calibre 3135.
A Datejust was presented to an eminent gentleman by Hans Wilsdorf in 1947, on the 100,000th officially certified chronometer celebrated by the brand. The identity of this gentleman has not been revealed till this day. Christian Bale was seen wearing the Rolex Datejust 16013, in the movie American Pyscho. A Datejust has also been worn by Paul Newman in the movie The Color of Money, Bill Murray in the film Lost in Translation, and by various male characters in The Informers.
