The Tango collection was launched in 1995, and is one of the most popular collections by Raymond Weil. Like most other collections, Tango is also a dedication to music. The collection speaks of precision like the steps of the Tango, a dance art form, which showcase effortless movements.
The collection has evolved since inception adapting itself to the changing time. It, however, retains the core theme, which was conceived by the makers. The Tango collection, for men and women, feature a relaxed demeanour. Timepieces from the collection designed for, usually have Mother of pearl or/and diamonds. The makers conceive sleek and slender designs, which are beautiful in their simplicity.
The Tango 5591-ST-00659 is a beautifully crafted steel on steel piece by Raymond Weil. Completely made of stainless steel, the watch has the power to captivate any viewer. It has a steel band with an inter-crossing weave pattern, the clasp of which is a deployable buckle.
The case has 39 mm diameter and 8 mm thickness. It has a round grey dial, with a textured background. Roman numerals mark the hours, while the minutes are on an inner circle. The silver rim of the case has the hallmark 6 screws, a signature of the Tango collection. Its crown has the RW logo. This piece for men, from the Rhythmic collection, is a masculine and sporty one.
The Tango 5591-ST-00659 has the classic Swiss Quartz movement. It has an anti-reflective sapphire crystal on both sides, making it sturdy. The date window is at the 3 o’clock position and the watch features hour, minute, and seconds function.
Erol Ozan once said, “dancing is creating a sculpture that is visible only for a moment.” Raymond Weil adds a new dimension to this concept by crafting sculptures that are passionate, sensual, glamorous, and last for a lifetime. The Tango collection draws inspiration from the rawest dance form of all, Tango. Watches from this line give men and women a chance to observe a Tango between the two attributes Raymond Weil is renowned for- artistry and technique. Launched in 1995, the collection continues to mesmerize and dazzle even almost twenty years later.
The distinguishing characteristic of timepieces from the Tango collection lies in the six exposed screws embedded on the bezel, adding a raw element to the line. The round and rectangular shaped cases are made from stainless steel for ethereal glamour, and may be coated with yellow or rose gold PVD. Certain watches from the women’s version come inlaid with gems on the bezel in addition to the screws, to depict the glamour and lustre that comes hand in hand with being the female partner of the Tango. Watches from the Tango are available with dials in varying shades of white, black, and blue, with a centre having intricate workings that display Raymond Weil’s immaculate crafting skills. The time intervals are marked with Roman numerals, indexes, and gems.
The quartz movement of the Swiss made watches from the Tango collection ensures accurate timekeeping for the connoisseur. With single or dual date windows, certain chronograph editions of the men’s watches come with three subdials for seconds, 30-minute, and 12-hour intervals. The dial is protected by sapphire glass crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. The stainless steel bracelets are available in two toned or pure options with double push folding clasps, while some watches have calf leather motif straps with traditional buckles.
