Raymond Weil was started in 1976, and set off to become an international brand in the watch industry. The creator of this brand, Raymond Weil relies on skilled craftsmanship and unique designs. He combines it with reliability and perfection. He also amalgamates his love for watch making with that of music. His collections are mostly centred on music or family. The company is also renowned for constantly evolving over the years to mix tradition with modern. After Raymond Weil, it was his son in law, Olivier Bernheim, and currently Weil’s grandson, Elie Bernheim is the CEO. All of them maintain the core values of the company and continue to place music at a central position.
The silver toned Tango 5399-ST-00995 for ladies, has a white mother of pearl dial, and is adorned with the trademark twelve screws of the collection. Bold silver Roman numbers mark the hours at 6, 9 and 12 o’clock positions, and the rest are diamond studded (Brilliant cut 32/24 - VVS2 to VS1, 0.02 carats). Minute markers are on a circle in the outside. It has a diameter of 28 mm, and a thickness of 7mm.
The rounded up dial is placed on a stainless steel bracelet, with a deployable double folding clasp. The push/ pull crown is lacquered and emblematised with the distinct RW logo. This watch is magnificent and doesn’t fail to impress.
The Tango piece has Swiss quartz movement. Along with the hour, minute, and seconds function, it performs the task of date telling through the date window at 3 o’clock. It is water resistant up to 100 m, and is sturdy due to the sapphire crystal employed on both sides. The crystal has an anti-glare coating and is scratch resistant.
Erol Ozan once said, “dancing is creating a sculpture that is visible only for a moment.” Raymond Weil adds a new dimension to this concept by crafting sculptures that are passionate, sensual, glamorous, and last for a lifetime. The Tango collection draws inspiration from the rawest dance form of all, Tango. Watches from this line give men and women a chance to observe a Tango between the two attributes Raymond Weil is renowned for- artistry and technique. Launched in 1995, the collection continues to mesmerize and dazzle even almost twenty years later.
The distinguishing characteristic of timepieces from the Tango collection lies in the six exposed screws embedded on the bezel, adding a raw element to the line. The round and rectangular shaped cases are made from stainless steel for ethereal glamour, and may be coated with yellow or rose gold PVD. Certain watches from the women’s version come inlaid with gems on the bezel in addition to the screws, to depict the glamour and lustre that comes hand in hand with being the female partner of the Tango. Watches from the Tango are available with dials in varying shades of white, black, and blue, with a centre having intricate workings that display Raymond Weil’s immaculate crafting skills. The time intervals are marked with Roman numerals, indexes, and gems.
The quartz movement of the Swiss made watches from the Tango collection ensures accurate timekeeping for the connoisseur. With single or dual date windows, certain chronograph editions of the men’s watches come with three subdials for seconds, 30-minute, and 12-hour intervals. The dial is protected by sapphire glass crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. The stainless steel bracelets are available in two toned or pure options with double push folding clasps, while some watches have calf leather motif straps with traditional buckles.
