Raymond Weil’s current CEO is Elie Bernheim, the founder’s grandson. He joined the company in 2006, and took over from his father, Olivier Bernheim. He strives to continue the family legacy of the Raymond’s title. While he maintains the spirit of tradition, he brings a young and modern outlook to the company. The love of music has been quintessential in the development of the company.
The Tango collection is also inspired by the rhythmic music, to which the classical dance form of Tango is performed. It is sensual and rhythmic, prefect in every move. The company has a vast history with musical figures. They have launched a number of limited edition watches to pay a tribute to musical stalwarts.
The Tango 5391-SB5-00658 is an exquisite dual toned watch for ladies. The stainless steel, rose gold PVD plating case, has a diameter of 28 mm, and thickness of 6.55 mm. It features six screws along the rim, a hallmark of the Tango collection. The silver textured dial has rose gold Roman numbers indicating the hours, while minutes are placed on an inner circle. Rose gold hands perform the hour, minutes and seconds function.
The case rests on the two toned, weave finish bracelet. It has a deployable double folding, double security clasp. The rose gold lacquered crown has the trademark RW emblem on it. This timepiece for women is extremely balanced, feminine, and petit.
This exquisite piece from the Tango collection has quartz movement. It is strengthened by sapphire crystal, which prevents scratches and glare. The date window is positioned at 3 o’clock. It enables the hour, minute, seconds, and date function. It is water resistant up to 100 m.
Erol Ozan once said, “dancing is creating a sculpture that is visible only for a moment.” Raymond Weil adds a new dimension to this concept by crafting sculptures that are passionate, sensual, glamorous, and last for a lifetime. The Tango collection draws inspiration from the rawest dance form of all, Tango. Watches from this line give men and women a chance to observe a Tango between the two attributes Raymond Weil is renowned for- artistry and technique. Launched in 1995, the collection continues to mesmerize and dazzle even almost twenty years later.
The distinguishing characteristic of timepieces from the Tango collection lies in the six exposed screws embedded on the bezel, adding a raw element to the line. The round and rectangular shaped cases are made from stainless steel for ethereal glamour, and may be coated with yellow or rose gold PVD. Certain watches from the women’s version come inlaid with gems on the bezel in addition to the screws, to depict the glamour and lustre that comes hand in hand with being the female partner of the Tango. Watches from the Tango are available with dials in varying shades of white, black, and blue, with a centre having intricate workings that display Raymond Weil’s immaculate crafting skills. The time intervals are marked with Roman numerals, indexes, and gems.
The quartz movement of the Swiss made watches from the Tango collection ensures accurate timekeeping for the connoisseur. With single or dual date windows, certain chronograph editions of the men’s watches come with three subdials for seconds, 30-minute, and 12-hour intervals. The dial is protected by sapphire glass crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. The stainless steel bracelets are available in two toned or pure options with double push folding clasps, while some watches have calf leather motif straps with traditional buckles.
