Raymond Weil started his watch making company in 1976, at a time when the Swiss watch making industry was at an all time low. The crisis was called the Quartz Revolution, in which mechanical watch movement was being replaced by the advanced Quartz movement. Raymond Weil was one of the watch makers, who introduced this modern technology into the market, breaking away from the shackles of the Swiss hegemony. Raymond Weil is renowned in the world of luxury watches. In the 35 years, the brand has produced remarkable pieces with varied designs. The company is also known for the passion it puts in to create each piece. Precision and reliability are the two pillars of the brand.
The Maestro 2838-PC5-00209 is a master piece befitting the collection it belongs to. It has a grand stainless steel case, with rose gold PVD plating. It has diameter of 39.5 mm, and thickness of 9.93 mm. On it is set a classic black dial, with a sub dial at 6 o’ clock, and rose gold hands and Roman numeral marking the hours. Indices marking the minutes are on an outer circle.
This attractive case rests on brown genuine calf leather strap, with alligator motif, that clasp through traditional stainless steel, rose gold plated buckles. It is adorned with an RW rose gold crown.
The Maestro 2838-PC5-00209 has a mechanical movement, with automatic winding. It has a movement calibre of 5.6 mm, and a reserved power of 38 hours. It is water resistant up to 50 m. It is treated with sapphire crystal on both sides, which makes it sturdy, and prevents scratches and glare. It performs the hour, minute, second, and date function. Seconds are performed through a small dial at 6 o’clock, and date through a window at 3 o’ clock.
Upholding its tradition of producing watches that make checking time an experience in and of itself, in 2010, Raymond Weil introduced the Maestro collection of wristwatches. The Maestro series later launched the Maestro Phase de Lune model in 2011, which true to its name allowed the inspection of certain lunar complexities as an added feature. The Maestro 35th anniversary edition was also launched the same year to commemorate 35 years of Raymond Weil’s glorious existence as one of the world’s leading watch manufacturers.
The Maestro collection of watches is designed envisioning the requirements of both men and women, offering a plethora of designs to choose from. The watches come in stainless steel or gold cases with the crown adorned with the Raymond Weil logo. Sapphire crystal with double-sided anti-glare treatment has been used as the glass material. The crown can be used to adjust the hour as well the date functions. The watches intended for the ladies are adorned with decorative elements and diamonds have been used liberally in the more lavish models . The straps are made with pure leather and enhanced with alligator finish or feature stainless steel bracelets.
In addition to the main dial displaying time, there are smaller windows, which display day, date and month as well depending on the watch. The Maestro Phase de Lune also incorporates lunar phase related information. Some of the watches in the Maestro series come with a transparent back cover, which showcases the gear movement, the balance wheel and the oscillating weight within the watch. Select models feature subsidiary dials as chronograph counters. The watches in this series are water-resistant up to a depth of 50 metres. The Maestro series lives up to its name, as it indeed is the master of its class offering a stunning choice to both men and women.
