Rado

History
Rado was born of a dream of innovation. In 1917, three brothers in the town of Lengnau, Switzerland established a small watch-movements factory. In 1957, they embarked on an ambitious drive, launching their first line of watches. Named ‘Rado’, this line gave to the family venture, the Schlup and Company, its global identity. Pioneering the use of materials like hardmetal, lanthanum, sapphire crystal and ceramic, Rado altered the watch manufacturing processes. The use of these materials improved the quality of watches besides ensuring improved looks. The result of these innovations was the Rado DiaStar. Unveiled in 1958, this was the world’s first line of scratch proof watches and continues to command a significant proportion of Rado’s sales. In 2004, Rado manufactured the V10K, the hardest watch on earth as recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records.
 Rado had become a part of the ASUAG Group in 1968. The SMH group, later to be known as the Swatch Group, acquired it later on. Rado now functions as a component of this company and lives up to its standard of excellence.

Design
