Rado is not just a brand that has earned a name for itself in the last century; it is also the architect of a myriad of inventions such as the scratch resistant sapphire crystal, and the use of high tech ceramics in watches. In 1996, Rado designed their first watch for women; the DiaQueen. Ever since, the brand has produced a multitude of collections and pieces that have appealed to women.
The HyperChrome R32110203 is designed for women. The piece is a veneration of its aquatic inspiration. It features a luminous blue dial, that is enclosed with the stainless steel circular case, which measures 37mm in diameter. It possesses a serene tranquility combined with ethereal elegance. Silver toned hands and index markers are featured on the dial, and are both coated by super-luminova, which enables easy visibility in dark conditions. A date display is marked at the 3 o’clock position.
The simple, yet appealing design also consists of a stainless steel bracelet.
A skeletal case back is incorporated, revealing the intricacies of the beautiful automatic movement. The watch functions date, hour, minute and second. A sapphire crystal encloses the delicate piece, thwarting all damage. Furthermore, the watch is also water resistant up to 30 meters.
The Hyperchrome collection made a grand entry at Dubai, by organising an event that aimed at drawing analogies between its pieces and the city itself. A factor pulling the two so close in spirit, is the fact that the city and the brand share a common passion for constructing and breaking records. The CEO Matthew Breshchan, launched the collection with much aplomb and spirit for the younger generations of watch lovers.
In 1917, in Switzerland, three brothers—Fritz, Ernst and Werner Schlup—opened a clockwork factory called Schlup & Co. From its humble beginnings, it is this same company that we today known as Rado. In 1957, exactly 40 years since its inception, the company changed its name to Rado Uhren AG and presented its first watch collection.
The monobloc case of the ceramic watches in this new Rado family represents a breakthrough in technology as well as a step forward in design. Lightweight, extremely comfortable and eye-catching, the Rado HyperChrome is the ultimate every day all occasion timepiece.
Key milestones in Rado’s impressive history so far include the world’s first scratch resistant watch, pioneering high-tech ceramic in watchmaking, the monobloc injected ceramic case and the introduction of touch technology in a ceramic watch. The brand was also the first to use plasma high-tech ceramic in the world.
