Rado began as a small family business established by three brothers Fritz, Ernst and Werner Schlup in the Swiss town of Lengnau in 1917. Manufacturing watch-movements, the business soon turned out its first line of watches under the brand name Rado. Known as the Rado Uhren henceforth, this enterprise was soon to rivet attention on to itself.
1962 saw the company belting out the world’s first range of scrath proof watches, the Rado DiaStar. An instant success, this line spoke volumes about the company’s commitment to innovative technology. The use of hardmetal, lanthanum, sapphire crystal and ceramic was unknown to the watch industry before Rado introduced them. In 2004, the Guinness Book of World Records certified that Rado had manufactured the hardest watch on earth, the V10K.
Rado now functions as a part of the Swatch group, earlier known as the SMH Group, which acquired it from ASUAG. The latter had taken Rado as partners briefly in 1968, shortly after the immense success of the DiaStar. Even as a unit of another company, Rado continues to be one of the key players in the watch manufacturing industry.
Belonging to the Sintra collection for men, the Rado R13777152 watch combines a unique design with superior engineering. The polished bracelet made of silver coloured ceramos , a hi-tech ceramic and metal composite, is a product of Rado’s innovation. Shaped like the tapering end of a snail, the bracelet ensures a snug fit and comfortable wear. A titanium double folding clasp with push button secures it firmly on the wearer’s wri st.
The square black dial, set within a ceramic bezel, is engraved with luminescent silver tone stick hour indices with dots coupled with luminous watch hands. Luminescent triangular indicators also occur at the 12, 4 and 8 o’ clock positions. Minute markers are etched along the outer rim. Rado’s scratch proof sapphire crystal protects the dial from damage.
Laden with features to match its edgy look, the watch has a date window at the 6 o’ clock position. Battery powered and operated on Swiss made quartz technology, the watch is known for its precision on date and time updates. Further, it is water resistant till 30 meters underwater.
Rado’s journey began a little less than a century ago, in the year 1917. It was the collective initiative of three brothers, namely Fritz, Ernst and Werner Schlup. The company was first called Schlup & Co., and was a manufacturer of clockworks only. In 1957, after a span of 40 years, the luxury Swiss watch brand launched its first collection of watches, and acquired the name of Rado. It has been a long journey since then for the watch house. Rado has made a name for itself for their unique designs and use of innovative materials in the art of watch making. They have received over 20 international awards for their ground-breaking watches.
The flow of the case and the graceful lines of the Rado Sintra’s high-tech ceramic bracelet form a harmonious frame for the flawless sapphire crystal. Expressing the Rado core value of comfort, only high-tech ceramic, sapphire crystal or titanium touch the skin.
Watches belonging to the Sintra collection feature a Swiss calibre driven, highly precise battery operated Quartz movement. Apart from displaying the regular time keeping functions of hours, minutes and seconds, the Sintra collection employs high-tech ceramic material detailing, specially crafted for the comfort of its wearers. The Sintra collection expresses Rado’s core values of impeccable designs to go well with a wide range of dresses and multiple occasions.
