Rado, famed the world over for their innovative technology, began as a small family business in the Swiss town of Lengnau in 1917. The founders of the Schlup and Company Franz, Ernst and Werner were devotees of technological progress. When the enterprise marketed its first batch of watches under the brand name Rado, it was the blend of engineering and beauty that ensured tremendous success. Rado revolutionized watch-making by introducing the use of materials like sapphire crystal, lanthanum, ceramic and hardmetal. The DiaStar was a testimony to the efficiency of the improvisational experimentations. It was the first ever line of scratch proof watches. In 2004, the V10K was launched. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, it is the hardest watch on earth.
Recognising the potential of the company, the ASUAG Group partnered Rado in 1968. A few years later, the SMH Group, to be renamed the Swatch Group in 1998, acquired it. As a part of the Swatch Group, Rado continues to deliver on its promise of excellence.
With its entire body crafted out of hi-tech ceramic, this Rado R13724712 watch from the Sintra collection for men, exemplifies the finesse of Rado’s technical craftsmanship. The tapering black bracelet is enabled with a deployment clasp with a push button, to help secure it on the wrist of the wearer.
Black ceramic bezel encases a square black dial beset with four white diamonds as quarter hour markers. The gold tone hour hands are coated with luminescent marker and enclosed within a 32mm x 30mm case, to enable the time to be understood even in the dark. Scratch proof sapphire crystal remains unscathed for years, thus retaining the brand new look of the watch.
Utilizing Swiss made quartz technology, the watch provides precise date and time updates. A date window is mounted at the 6 o’ clock position, enhancing the ease with which the date may be checked. The watch also comes with a water resistance rating of upto 3 bars. As a result, the watch mechanism works perfectly till it is submerged more than 30 meters under water.
Rado’s journey began a little less than a century ago, in the year 1917. It was the collective initiative of three brothers, namely Fritz, Ernst and Werner Schlup. The company was first called Schlup & Co., and was a manufacturer of clockworks only. In 1957, after a span of 40 years, the luxury Swiss watch brand launched its first collection of watches, and acquired the name of Rado. It has been a long journey since then for the watch house. Rado has made a name for itself for their unique designs and use of innovative materials in the art of watch making. They have received over 20 international awards for their ground-breaking watches.
The flow of the case and the graceful lines of the Rado Sintra’s high-tech ceramic bracelet form a harmonious frame for the flawless sapphire crystal. Expressing the Rado core value of comfort, only high-tech ceramic, sapphire crystal or titanium touch the skin.
Watches belonging to the Sintra collection feature a Swiss calibre driven, highly precise battery operated Quartz movement. Apart from displaying the regular time keeping functions of hours, minutes and seconds, the Sintra collection employs high-tech ceramic material detailing, specially crafted for the comfort of its wearers. The Sintra collection expresses Rado’s core values of impeccable designs to go well with a wide range of dresses and multiple occasions.
