Omega is a Swiss luxury watch brand which was first established in 1848 by Louis Brandt. By the year 1889, the brand had become the largest producers of innovative timepieces, manufacturing over a 100,000 watches per year. Today, after over 150 years of watchmaking, the brand continues to remain one of the most admired in the profession.
The Omega Constellation 126.96.36.199.55.005 for women features a round, white mother of pearl dial with the unique Constellation Collection symbol of the star engraved above the 6 o’clock position. This timepiece features indexes encrusted with finely cut diamonds and white stick style hands outlined in gold. The case window is made of scratch-resistant and anti-reflective sapphire crystal that protects the dial from damage. Its transparent caseback is made of the same material and is highly durable. The date window is positioned at 3 o'clock. A 27 mm stainless steel case is mounted by a bezel that is engraved with Roman numerals. It also features the distinctive “griffes” or claws in 18 carat gold, which is characteristic only to the Constellation Series. A matching bracelet adds to the elegance of this timepiece.
The watch features an Omega caliber 8520 self-winding automatic movement. Its Co-Axial Escapement not only makes the watch extremely accurate but also prolongs its durability. A free-sprung balance system accompanied by a silicon balance spring protects the timepiece from damage against shocks and pressure variations. The winding screw attached to the side of the case is bi-directional, to reduce winding time. A Rhodium plated finish with Geneva waves in Arabesque renders this timepiece with finesse and style. It has a power reserve of 50 hours and is water-resistant to a depth of 100 metres.
The Constellation Collection by Omega was launched in 1952, has since been renowned for its ultra precise movements and elegantly refined cases. Century, a limited edition wristwatch unveiled in 1948 on the firm’s 100th anniversary, is the progenitor of the collection. Due to the overwhelming response received by this watch, the brand launched the Constellation collection, which imbibed the same qualities. In 1982, the Constellation “Manhattan” was launched, with which the four claws or “griffes” were introduced that keeps the sapphire crystal case intact to securely render the watch waterproof.
The Omega Constellation collection has been exemplified in several sub collections that include the Gents’ Collection, Ladies’ Collection, Orbis Constellation Star, Sedna, and the Luxury Edition. The watches in the Gents’ collection feature distinctive design factors – the renowned claws on the case, horizontal links for utmost comfort, and a Constellation star, which is situated at the 6o’ clock position. Featuring a vast range of watches with different sizes, metals, dials, and diamond options to choose from, the Ladies’ Collection contains at least one watch to suit every wrist. The Orbis Constellation Star supports Orbis International – which gives advanced eye care to some of the most inaccessible regions in the world, and it’s Flying Eye Hospital. An 18-carat rose gold alloy, consisting of copper, palladium, and at least 75% gold, has been used to craft the Constellation Sedna. This breathtaking alloy adds an innovative and stunning appeal to the watch, giving it a long lasting rose-coloured hue. The magnificent Omega Constellation Luxury Edition watches showcase multitude of diamonds in spectacular supernova pattern, which dazzles the eyes of the onlooker.
A gold Omega Constellation “Manhattan” was worn by the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. One of the 20th century’s most popular musicians, cultural icon, actor, and American singer, Elvis Presley had worn a black-dialled Constellation Calendar.
