1969 for Omega was a truly historical year. One of its creations the “Omega Pilots Line” Flightmaster was worn on the moon. Inspired by the classic design of this legendary timepiece, Omega has introduced the Spacemaster Z-33 for men.
The Omega Spacemaster Z-33 322.214.171.124.01.001 features a combination of a digital as well as analogue dial. The baton style hands and the indexes are legible in any sort of light environment. The digital LCD screen with red segments is laminated by a LED backlight which helps in luminosity. Even the hour and minute hand and the index markers are strongly luminescent.
The 43 mm case of the timepiece has been inspired by the “Pilot Line” and is manufactured with grade 5 titanium with a matching three pieces link bracelet. Four pushers surround the clock, with which the various functions of the timepiece can be controlled. The case window of the watch is made of scratch resistant and anti-reflective Sapphire crystal for a clear view of the clock face. The case back is embellished with a seahorse, the Speedmaster insignia and secured to the case with four screws.
The Omega Spacemaster is a multifunctional timepiece and leaves you amazed at what it can do. The devise displays time, Coordinated Universal Time, alarm, function menu and a perpetual calendar. It also measures elapsed time and has a countdown timer. Self programmable professional pilot functions that the timepiece features can collect data of ten consecutive flights.
A quartz movement chronograph with highly precise thermo- compensated features takes accurate time telling to a whole new level. The high-tech pilot functions make coordinating flights and maintaining flight logs much simpler. With a power reserve of 24 hours this timepiece is also water-resistant to a depth of 30 meters.
Omega launched its range of Chronograph watches in the year 1957, under the Speedmaster collection. Originally, the watches in this collection were designed as a sports and racing chronograph, and not for space exploration. It was then selected by NASA in 1965 for all manned space flights.
This remarkable collection of Chronograph watches has been exemplified in several series. Featuring a timeless design, the rugged and reliable Moonwatch Chronograph, is a classic chronograph. The Speedmaster professional was the first watch to be worn on the moon and on all NASA’s manned missions since then. The Dark Side of the Moon collection is a tribute to the astronauts of the Apollo 8 who were the first to see the dark side of the moon. With a metallic grey bezel built from white ceramic, the Grey Side of the Moon has been inspired by the lunar dust, which has preserved all the steps of mankind on the moon. An updated form of the classic Mark II was launched in 2014, which features an illuminated tachymeter. Honouring the decades-long connection of the chronographs with motor racing, the Racing was launched. To commemorate the historic occasion of the first lunar landing, the Apollo 11 45th Anniversary was launched, with its case crafted from grade 2 titanium. Other compelling series from the Speedmaster Collection include the Speedmaster 57, HB-SIA, Skywalker X-33 and Spacemaster Z-33.
The first watch on the moon was the “Omega Speedmaster Professional Chronograph”, worn by astronaut Buzz Aldrin. The producer, director, writer, and Hollywood actor, Tom Hanks and the adventurer, explorer, and mountaineer, Reinhold Messner, have been seen wearing an Omega Seamaster Professional.
