The Planet Ocean 600M line of watches was launched by OMEGA in order to diversify its Seamaster offering. It was introduced in 2005, and is a fruitful culmination of the brand’s years of work, beginning from the first presentation of its innovative dive watch in 1932, to timekeepers from its Seamaster collection. With this latest collection, OMEGA has been able to cement its position as a reliable choice for divers and the common man alike.
The 184.108.40.206.01.002 model by OMEGA is a sporty and funky watch, and comes with varied design elements that make it a truly diver’s timekeeper. A stainless steel timepiece, the model sports a 45.5mm case, with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal lens for protection of its dial. In addition to its sapphire crystal construction on the front, its transparent case back is also made of the same material, and reveals the fine movement that powers this timekeeper. Besides safeguarding it from impact and shock, its unidirectional turning bezel in bright orange hue gives the model a touch of style. The dial in black tone comes decorated with hands and index hour-markers in finely polished steel. In addition to a date window design at the sixth hour, this OMEGA number also sports sub dials for marking minutes and hours for a precise reading of the elapsed time. Besides an ergonomically designed central screw-in crown, the case also comes equipped with two side crowns for managing its secondary functions. A helium-escape valve also makes an appearance at the side of the case. This model possesses a strap in stainless steel, which gives the watch its neat appearance alongside a comfortable use.
This OMEGA number is water-resistant to a depth of about 600m, and can withstand water contact during water sports like snorkelling, diving and swimming. Apart from offering basic hour and minute display functions, the other uses that it offers are chronograph functions, courtesy its sub dial, and rapid date change through its date window. To power all these functions, the movement that it runs on is the OMEGA 9300 Co-Axial calibre, and it offers a power reserve of about 60 hours.
Launched in the year 1948, the Omega Seamaster Collection was inspired by the waterproof watches made toward the end of World War II for the British military. The watches in this collection have acclaimed worldwide fame due to their combination of exceptional stability and awe-inspiring designs. These watches are ideal for serious underwater sports and adventures.
This collection features several amazing series under it. First introduced in 1957, the Seamaster 300 Master Co-axial features the same dark dial, symmetrical case, big numbers and hands, and lighter indexes like its predecessor. The Planet Ocean 600M Collection showcases several watches with stunning designs and exclusive Co-axial movements. The Aqua Terra 150M Gents’ collection is easily recognizable because of its “Teak Concept” pattern on the dials. The Seamaster Aqua Terra Ladies’ Collection was the first to be equipped with the cutting-edge anti-magnetic Omega Master Co-Axial calibres. Available in lacquered black or blue dials, the Diver 300M Collection showcase white skeletonized hour and minute hands. The Ploprof 1200M is equipped with Co-axial caliber 8500 and is water-resistant up to 1200 meters. The winding crown located at the 12 o’clock position, surrounded by the two chronograph pushers at its sides; give the Bullhead collection its unique name.
In the James Bond movies since the release of GoldenEye in 1995, the character has consistently worn an Omega Seamaster. The Omega brand ambassador, Michael Phelps, an Olympic swimmer and multiple times gold medallist, wears the Seamaster Planet Ocean.
