Launched in 2005, the Planet Ocean 600M line of OMEGA’s Seamaster watches is a remarkable representation of the watchmaker’s love and dedication for the maritime life. The range is a reminder of the brand’s legacy of designing and producing innovative diver’s watches. The current line features design elements of the previous generation of watches, but in a more improved avatar.
The 18.104.22.168.01.003 model by OMEGA is a watch made for the seafarers, the aquanauts as well as the horological enthusiasts, and comes designed with a black dial that is housed inside a 45.5mm stainless steel case. Attached to the case, and surrounding the dial, is a black unidirectional turning divers’ bezel made of ceramic, for greater resilience. The dial in black hue sports finely polished and smooth hands and index hour markings – except for the ninth, sixth and twelfth hours, that are in orange Arabic numerals. The watch also has a date display aperture at the 3 o’clock position, which lends the time-teller with greater versatility. A stainless steel bracelet, along with a strong crown, completes the design elements of this iconic watch.
The 22.214.171.124.01.003 creation is truly a spectacular diver’s watch. It is water-resistant to a depth of 600m, and thus, can be safely worn for water sports activities like swimming, snorkelling and diving. The screw-in crown further serves to make the watch more water-resistant during any kind of water sports indulgence. Another feature that makes the watch ideal for underwater activity is its helium-escape valve, which does not allow helium gas to build up inside the watch. To power its various functions, the OMEGA watch operates on the Co-Axial 8500 calibre that lends it with not only greater stability and precision, but offers a power backup of about 60 hours for normal functioning.
Launched in the year 1948, the Omega Seamaster Collection was inspired by the waterproof watches made toward the end of World War II for the British military. The watches in this collection have acclaimed worldwide fame due to their combination of exceptional stability and awe-inspiring designs. These watches are ideal for serious underwater sports and adventures.
This collection features several amazing series under it. First introduced in 1957, the Seamaster 300 Master Co-axial features the same dark dial, symmetrical case, big numbers and hands, and lighter indexes like its predecessor. The Planet Ocean 600M Collection showcases several watches with stunning designs and exclusive Co-axial movements. The Aqua Terra 150M Gents’ collection is easily recognizable because of its “Teak Concept” pattern on the dials. The Seamaster Aqua Terra Ladies’ Collection was the first to be equipped with the cutting-edge anti-magnetic Omega Master Co-Axial calibres. Available in lacquered black or blue dials, the Diver 300M Collection showcase white skeletonized hour and minute hands. The Ploprof 1200M is equipped with Co-axial caliber 8500 and is water-resistant up to 1200 meters. The winding crown located at the 12 o’clock position, surrounded by the two chronograph pushers at its sides; give the Bullhead collection its unique name.
In the James Bond movies since the release of GoldenEye in 1995, the character has consistently worn an Omega Seamaster. The Omega brand ambassador, Michael Phelps, an Olympic swimmer and multiple times gold medallist, wears the Seamaster Planet Ocean.
