In 1932, Omega presented the Marine, the world's first watch exclusively designed for divers and aquanauts. 1948 saw the range go through major revamping when it was presented to sailors and divers as the tough and reliable watch of their choice. The 188.8.131.52.04.001 model is a part of the Seamaster Planet Ocean range, a collection meant to pay homage to the brand’s rich maritime legacy. Launched in 2005, the collection with its state of the art technologies and contemporary styling, is an enhanced version of the previous ranges.
A certified chronometer, this timepiece from Omega is an epitome of robustness and masculinity. It is presented on a stainless steel bracelet, which can be customised according to your size. The 42 mm case is far from shy and is mounted with a rotating notched bezel for a sporty appearance. Highly functional for divers, the bezel can be used for calculating their dive time. The dial is white in colour, with raised hour markers crafted out of polished steel with a luminescent fill and clear minute calibrations. A window at the 3 o’clock position displays the current date clearly. The domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, which serves as the face of the watch, has been coated with anti-reflective treatment on both sides to virtually eliminate glare.
Equipped with a helium valve, the timepiece can be used in pressure chambers, as the decompression system allows helium to escape from inside the watch. Making use of the Omega 8500 caliber at its heart, the timepiece is exceptional in precision and reliability, since it beats at 25,200 vph. It is self-winding with a Co-Axial Escapement, which renders the ability to function with great efficiency because of reduced friction. Bridges and the oscillating mass of the movement are adorned with Geneva waves in arabesque for an exceptional finish. The beauty of the movement can be seen through the transparent sapphire back. This watch comes with an impressive power reserve of 60 hours. Water resistant to a depth of 600 meters, the timepiece justifies its name by being perfectly at home underwater.
Launched in the year 1948, the Omega Seamaster Collection was inspired by the waterproof watches made toward the end of World War II for the British military. The watches in this collection have acclaimed worldwide fame due to their combination of exceptional stability and awe-inspiring designs. These watches are ideal for serious underwater sports and adventures.
This collection features several amazing series under it. First introduced in 1957, the Seamaster 300 Master Co-axial features the same dark dial, symmetrical case, big numbers and hands, and lighter indexes like its predecessor. The Planet Ocean 600M Collection showcases several watches with stunning designs and exclusive Co-axial movements. The Aqua Terra 150M Gents’ collection is easily recognizable because of its “Teak Concept” pattern on the dials. The Seamaster Aqua Terra Ladies’ Collection was the first to be equipped with the cutting-edge anti-magnetic Omega Master Co-Axial calibres. Available in lacquered black or blue dials, the Diver 300M Collection showcase white skeletonized hour and minute hands. The Ploprof 1200M is equipped with Co-axial caliber 8500 and is water-resistant up to 1200 meters. The winding crown located at the 12 o’clock position, surrounded by the two chronograph pushers at its sides; give the Bullhead collection its unique name.
In the James Bond movies since the release of GoldenEye in 1995, the character has consistently worn an Omega Seamaster. The Omega brand ambassador, Michael Phelps, an Olympic swimmer and multiple times gold medallist, wears the Seamaster Planet Ocean.
