Characterized by its unique “griffes” or claws and exceptional dials the Omega Constellation is a series of watches for men that was first introduced thirty years ago.
The Omega Constellation 220.127.116.11.05.001 has a round- shaped, white mother of pearl dial that brings out the grandeur of the watch. A scratch- resistant, anti-reflective sapphire crystal makes up the case window which protects the dial while giving us a clear view of the clock face.
Roman numerals are engraved on a smooth bezel that is mounted upon a 27 mm, 18 carat red gold case. A winding screw is attached to the side of the case and is useful for manual regulation of time. The bracelet of the Omega Constellation 18.104.22.168.05.001 is also made of 18 carat red gold and strikingly complements the mother of pearl of the dial. The extraordinary opulence and panache of the timepiece is reflected with a Rhodium plated finish.
With a high power reserve of 41 months, the chronometre of the timepiece is power-driven by Omega’s 1376 caliber, quartz precision movement. This means that it makes use of an electronic oscillator, regulated by a fine quartz crystal to maintain military precision in telling time.
A safety feature of this timepiece is that it is water-resistant to a depth of 100 metres. The devise has also been designed in a way that it can easily absorb shocks and bear changes in the external environment.
The Constellation Collection by Omega was launched in 1952, has since been renowned for its ultra precise movements and elegantly refined cases. Century, a limited edition wristwatch unveiled in 1948 on the firm’s 100th anniversary, is the progenitor of the collection. Due to the overwhelming response received by this watch, the brand launched the Constellation collection, which imbibed the same qualities. In 1982, the Constellation “Manhattan” was launched, with which the four claws or “griffes” were introduced that keeps the sapphire crystal case intact to securely render the watch waterproof.
The Omega Constellation collection has been exemplified in several sub collections that include the Gents’ Collection, Ladies’ Collection, Orbis Constellation Star, Sedna, and the Luxury Edition. The watches in the Gents’ collection feature distinctive design factors – the renowned claws on the case, horizontal links for utmost comfort, and a Constellation star, which is situated at the 6o’ clock position. Featuring a vast range of watches with different sizes, metals, dials, and diamond options to choose from, the Ladies’ Collection contains at least one watch to suit every wrist. The Orbis Constellation Star supports Orbis International – which gives advanced eye care to some of the most inaccessible regions in the world, and it’s Flying Eye Hospital. An 18-carat rose gold alloy, consisting of copper, palladium, and at least 75% gold, has been used to craft the Constellation Sedna. This breathtaking alloy adds an innovative and stunning appeal to the watch, giving it a long lasting rose-coloured hue. The magnificent Omega Constellation Luxury Edition watches showcase multitude of diamonds in spectacular supernova pattern, which dazzles the eyes of the onlooker.
A gold Omega Constellation “Manhattan” was worn by the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. One of the 20th century’s most popular musicians, cultural icon, actor, and American singer, Elvis Presley had worn a black-dialled Constellation Calendar.
