With the launch of the Constellation Manhattan, Omega, in 1982, created a special place in the luxury watch market for itself. The collection launched by the brand was recognised by the outer rings marked by “griffes” or claws for holding their sapphire crystal in place. In 2009, the range was relaunched with the addition of compelling new models, which began to attract a wide spectrum of customers.
One of the most unique features of the 220.127.116.11.53.001 model is its striking blue dial, which has been decorated with a supernova pattern to add a sense of motion to it. Adorned with 12 diamond as hour markers, this watch symbolises class and richness. The star symbol associated with the constellation collection is placed above the 6 o’clock position. A red gold bezel, which has been embellished with diamonds, is displayed in a snow-set pattern and is mounted on the 27 mm stainless steel case body. These precious stones have been picked out by Omega, using the 4 Cs of Quality-cut, colour, clarity and carat. The crystal, which protects the unique dial, is crafted using sapphire and coated with anti-reflective treatment to eliminate glare. The bracelet is presented in two tones with brushed stainless steel and 18 k red gold. Guaranteed to be scratch resistant as well as water resistant, this watch is the perfect accessory for everyday use.
Powered by the Omega 1376 caliber, the watch is extremely reliable and accurate. The Quartz precision movement has been plated with rhodium for an exceptional finish. A power reserve of 41 months makes sure that the timepiece does not stop functioning even when left unused for a relatively long period of time. Owing to the property of the timepiece to resist damage caused due to water, it can be worn during activities like swimming and snorkelling.
The Constellation Collection by Omega was launched in 1952, has since been renowned for its ultra precise movements and elegantly refined cases. Century, a limited edition wristwatch unveiled in 1948 on the firm’s 100th anniversary, is the progenitor of the collection. Due to the overwhelming response received by this watch, the brand launched the Constellation collection, which imbibed the same qualities. In 1982, the Constellation “Manhattan” was launched, with which the four claws or “griffes” were introduced that keeps the sapphire crystal case intact to securely render the watch waterproof.
The Omega Constellation collection has been exemplified in several sub collections that include the Gents’ Collection, Ladies’ Collection, Orbis Constellation Star, Sedna, and the Luxury Edition. The watches in the Gents’ collection feature distinctive design factors – the renowned claws on the case, horizontal links for utmost comfort, and a Constellation star, which is situated at the 6o’ clock position. Featuring a vast range of watches with different sizes, metals, dials, and diamond options to choose from, the Ladies’ Collection contains at least one watch to suit every wrist. The Orbis Constellation Star supports Orbis International – which gives advanced eye care to some of the most inaccessible regions in the world, and it’s Flying Eye Hospital. An 18-carat rose gold alloy, consisting of copper, palladium, and at least 75% gold, has been used to craft the Constellation Sedna. This breathtaking alloy adds an innovative and stunning appeal to the watch, giving it a long lasting rose-coloured hue. The magnificent Omega Constellation Luxury Edition watches showcase multitude of diamonds in spectacular supernova pattern, which dazzles the eyes of the onlooker.
A gold Omega Constellation “Manhattan” was worn by the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. One of the 20th century’s most popular musicians, cultural icon, actor, and American singer, Elvis Presley had worn a black-dialled Constellation Calendar.
