The 19th century witnessed the commencement of one of the foremost watch brands, Omega, which created a revolution in the history of timepieces. Louis Brandt, the founder of the brand was just 23 when he crafted the first Omega watch. He gradually established a foothold in countries like England, Scandinavia and Italy. It was after his demise that his sons took over his business and successfully continued his legacy.
Omega crafts luxury watches for both men and women. The timepieces feature innovative designs and timeless appeal. Omega’s Constellation collection was first launched in 1952 and since then it is extremely popular among women. Recently, in 2009 the collection underwent a thorough redesigning in order to suit the taste of modern day women.
The Omega Constellation Quartz 24 mm 22.214.171.124.63.001 model for women, comes with a brown dial adorned with a supernova pattern and embedded with 12 diamond set indexes. Its hour and minute hands are made of polished rose gold and shine brightly on the dial. The fixed bezel in rose gold matches the colour of the hands and has 28 intricately cut diamonds encrusted on it. This watch features an equally beautiful bracelet with alternative stainless steel and rose gold bars, which add to its luxurious appearance.
Made of sapphire crystal, the case window protects the watch rigorously, thus safeguarding it from scratches. Besides, you can view the dial clearly in bright sun owing to its anti reflective coating.
Equipped with the Omega’s calibre 1376, a precision quartz movement with a rhodium plated finish, the watch reads perfect time. It has a power reserve of 41 months and is water resistant up to 100 metres. Thus, you can swim, dive, snorkel or indulge in any other water activities wearing the watch.
The Constellation Collection by Omega was launched in 1952, has since been renowned for its ultra precise movements and elegantly refined cases. Century, a limited edition wristwatch unveiled in 1948 on the firm’s 100th anniversary, is the progenitor of the collection. Due to the overwhelming response received by this watch, the brand launched the Constellation collection, which imbibed the same qualities. In 1982, the Constellation “Manhattan” was launched, with which the four claws or “griffes” were introduced that keeps the sapphire crystal case intact to securely render the watch waterproof.
The Omega Constellation collection has been exemplified in several sub collections that include the Gents’ Collection, Ladies’ Collection, Orbis Constellation Star, Sedna, and the Luxury Edition. The watches in the Gents’ collection feature distinctive design factors – the renowned claws on the case, horizontal links for utmost comfort, and a Constellation star, which is situated at the 6o’ clock position. Featuring a vast range of watches with different sizes, metals, dials, and diamond options to choose from, the Ladies’ Collection contains at least one watch to suit every wrist. The Orbis Constellation Star supports Orbis International – which gives advanced eye care to some of the most inaccessible regions in the world, and it’s Flying Eye Hospital. An 18-carat rose gold alloy, consisting of copper, palladium, and at least 75% gold, has been used to craft the Constellation Sedna. This breathtaking alloy adds an innovative and stunning appeal to the watch, giving it a long lasting rose-coloured hue. The magnificent Omega Constellation Luxury Edition watches showcase multitude of diamonds in spectacular supernova pattern, which dazzles the eyes of the onlooker.
A gold Omega Constellation “Manhattan” was worn by the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. One of the 20th century’s most popular musicians, cultural icon, actor, and American singer, Elvis Presley had worn a black-dialled Constellation Calendar.
