The year 1982 witnessed the launch of the Constellation Manhattan collection. Watches of this collection displayed dramatic designs and enduring dial colours, which caught everyone’s attention. One of the chief highlights of these timepieces is their distinct design element referred to as “Griffes” or claws, which attained an iconic stature with increasing fanfare. The Constellation watches redesigned in 2009 exhibited a more refined form of claws and the star.
The Omega Constellation Quartz 27 mm 18.104.22.168.02.004 model for women, symbolises luxury and precision. Its silver dial comes enclosed in a stainless steel case and features yellow indexes as hour markers and yellow gold hour and minute hands. Mounted on the stainless steel casebody, the bezel is also crafted with yellow gold and has Roman numerals embossed on it as hour markers. Besides, the notched edges of the yellow gold crown offer an added grip. The graceful star symbol, which is a signature feature of all Constellation watches is positioned at 6 o’ clock. Another striking feature of the watch is its gorgeous bracelet, which displays alternative bars of stainless steel and yellow gold.
The sapphire crystal case window acts as a perfect guard for the dial rendering the timepiece durable. You can even view the dial with absolute clarity in bright sunlight as the crystal possesses an anti-reflective coating.
Powered with the Omega’s calibre 1376 movement with a rhodium plated finish, the watch reads precise time. It has an excellent power reserve of 41 months. You can swim, bathe, snorkel or indulge in any other sports activities wearing the watch, for it has a water resistance up to 100 metres.
Omega’s brand ambassadors include Abhishek Bachan and Sonali Bendre.
The Constellation Collection by Omega was launched in 1952, has since been renowned for its ultra precise movements and elegantly refined cases. Century, a limited edition wristwatch unveiled in 1948 on the firm’s 100th anniversary, is the progenitor of the collection. Due to the overwhelming response received by this watch, the brand launched the Constellation collection, which imbibed the same qualities. In 1982, the Constellation “Manhattan” was launched, with which the four claws or “griffes” were introduced that keeps the sapphire crystal case intact to securely render the watch waterproof.
The Omega Constellation collection has been exemplified in several sub collections that include the Gents’ Collection, Ladies’ Collection, Orbis Constellation Star, Sedna, and the Luxury Edition. The watches in the Gents’ collection feature distinctive design factors – the renowned claws on the case, horizontal links for utmost comfort, and a Constellation star, which is situated at the 6o’ clock position. Featuring a vast range of watches with different sizes, metals, dials, and diamond options to choose from, the Ladies’ Collection contains at least one watch to suit every wrist. The Orbis Constellation Star supports Orbis International – which gives advanced eye care to some of the most inaccessible regions in the world, and it’s Flying Eye Hospital. An 18-carat rose gold alloy, consisting of copper, palladium, and at least 75% gold, has been used to craft the Constellation Sedna. This breathtaking alloy adds an innovative and stunning appeal to the watch, giving it a long lasting rose-coloured hue. The magnificent Omega Constellation Luxury Edition watches showcase multitude of diamonds in spectacular supernova pattern, which dazzles the eyes of the onlooker.
A gold Omega Constellation “Manhattan” was worn by the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. One of the 20th century’s most popular musicians, cultural icon, actor, and American singer, Elvis Presley had worn a black-dialled Constellation Calendar.
