Omega’s Constellation Collection consists of innovative watches with striking bold dials. Each dial features the unique “griffes” or claws that the Collection is identified with.
The Constellation Star is a special collection of watches manufactured by Omega which shows the brand's commitment to social responsibility. The wristwatches have been created to support Orbis International and its endeavor to cure blindness. Omega and Orbis have co-produced a documentary film called Through Their Eyes that stars Daniel Craig. It shows his experience in Mongolia with the Orbis professionals and the amazing work that they do.
The Constellation Star 126.96.36.199.03.001 features a round, sun-brushed blue dial that has been detailed with 18 carat white gold stars. Its stick style silver hands perfectly complement the dial. A date window is positioned at 3 o’clock. The scratch-resistant anti-reflective sapphire crystal protects the clock face. A 27 mm stainless steel case is mounted by a fixed bezel that is decorated with skillfully cut diamonds. A winding screw is attached to the side of the case and is useful for manual winding. The three piece link bracelet enhances the sophistication of this timepiece.
With an Omega caliber 8520 self-winding movement, this chronometer does not need regular winding. Its Co-Axial Escapement, a feature unique to Omega timepieces, reduces internal friction and increases durability. The watch sports a Rhodium plated finish detailed with Geneva waves in Arabesque. The free sprung-balance and silicon balance-spring protects the timepiece from damage against environmental variations. This timepiece has a power reserve of 50 hours and is water resistant to a depth of 100 metres.
The Constellation Collection by Omega was launched in 1952, has since been renowned for its ultra precise movements and elegantly refined cases. Century, a limited edition wristwatch unveiled in 1948 on the firm’s 100th anniversary, is the progenitor of the collection. Due to the overwhelming response received by this watch, the brand launched the Constellation collection, which imbibed the same qualities. In 1982, the Constellation “Manhattan” was launched, with which the four claws or “griffes” were introduced that keeps the sapphire crystal case intact to securely render the watch waterproof.
The Omega Constellation collection has been exemplified in several sub collections that include the Gents’ Collection, Ladies’ Collection, Orbis Constellation Star, Sedna, and the Luxury Edition. The watches in the Gents’ collection feature distinctive design factors – the renowned claws on the case, horizontal links for utmost comfort, and a Constellation star, which is situated at the 6o’ clock position. Featuring a vast range of watches with different sizes, metals, dials, and diamond options to choose from, the Ladies’ Collection contains at least one watch to suit every wrist. The Orbis Constellation Star supports Orbis International – which gives advanced eye care to some of the most inaccessible regions in the world, and it’s Flying Eye Hospital. An 18-carat rose gold alloy, consisting of copper, palladium, and at least 75% gold, has been used to craft the Constellation Sedna. This breathtaking alloy adds an innovative and stunning appeal to the watch, giving it a long lasting rose-coloured hue. The magnificent Omega Constellation Luxury Edition watches showcase multitude of diamonds in spectacular supernova pattern, which dazzles the eyes of the onlooker.
A gold Omega Constellation “Manhattan” was worn by the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. One of the 20th century’s most popular musicians, cultural icon, actor, and American singer, Elvis Presley had worn a black-dialled Constellation Calendar.
