Founded by Louis Brandt in 1848, OMEGA is headquartered in Biel, Switzerland. The brand is today owned by the world famous Swatch Group. Omega has been the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games since the 1932 Los Angles Olympics, which says a great deal about the company’s reputation for precision and accuracy in timekeeping.
The Constellation collection was launched in 1982 and is famous for its “Griffes”, or claws on the dial. The dynamic collection was completely re-designed in 2009, resulting in a splendid makeover of the timepieces. The new collection is striking in its design and precision, and is worthy of the legacy of the original Constellation collection.
This stunning timepiece is a style statement in itself. With gold-fashioned stars spread across its jet black dial, the design of the timepiece is simply unforgettable. The 30 diamonds studded on the bezel and another two fixed in between the two claws add to the grandeur of the watch. The 27 mm stainless steel case is equipped with a matching stainless steel bracelet and features a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal covering the gorgeous dial of the timepiece.
The timepiece truly lives up to the name of the collection. It is powered by the OMEGA Co-Axial calibre 8520, a self-winding movement which is visible through the transparent caseback. The Co-Axial Escapement, with an Si14 silicon balance spring, assures the utmost precision, stability and durability. The timepiece features a date display at 3 o’clock. It comes with an international warranty of 2 years and is water resistant to a depth of 200 metres.
The Constellation Collection by Omega was launched in 1952, has since been renowned for its ultra precise movements and elegantly refined cases. Century, a limited edition wristwatch unveiled in 1948 on the firm’s 100th anniversary, is the progenitor of the collection. Due to the overwhelming response received by this watch, the brand launched the Constellation collection, which imbibed the same qualities. In 1982, the Constellation “Manhattan” was launched, with which the four claws or “griffes” were introduced that keeps the sapphire crystal case intact to securely render the watch waterproof.
The Omega Constellation collection has been exemplified in several sub collections that include the Gents’ Collection, Ladies’ Collection, Orbis Constellation Star, Sedna, and the Luxury Edition. The watches in the Gents’ collection feature distinctive design factors – the renowned claws on the case, horizontal links for utmost comfort, and a Constellation star, which is situated at the 6o’ clock position. Featuring a vast range of watches with different sizes, metals, dials, and diamond options to choose from, the Ladies’ Collection contains at least one watch to suit every wrist. The Orbis Constellation Star supports Orbis International – which gives advanced eye care to some of the most inaccessible regions in the world, and it’s Flying Eye Hospital. An 18-carat rose gold alloy, consisting of copper, palladium, and at least 75% gold, has been used to craft the Constellation Sedna. This breathtaking alloy adds an innovative and stunning appeal to the watch, giving it a long lasting rose-coloured hue. The magnificent Omega Constellation Luxury Edition watches showcase multitude of diamonds in spectacular supernova pattern, which dazzles the eyes of the onlooker.
A gold Omega Constellation “Manhattan” was worn by the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. One of the 20th century’s most popular musicians, cultural icon, actor, and American singer, Elvis Presley had worn a black-dialled Constellation Calendar.
