In 1952, Omega came up with the exquisite Constellation collection. With “Century” as its progenitor, the collection is rooted in the pioneering spirit of the brand. The Century was a limited edition self-winding chronometer wristwatch introduced in 1948, to celebrate the brand’s 100th anniversary. In 1982, the Constellation collection was revamped and introduced with griffes or claws on its outer ring to appeal to a new range of customers. When Omega relaunched the collection in 2009, the claws feature of the watches was retained.
The Omega 126.96.36.199.01.001 Constellation quartz model is manufactured adhering to the 1982 legacy model that had claws or griffes, carved into the outer ring of the bezel. Enclosed within a 24 mm stainless steel case lies a unique dial defined by its minimalist design. With a matching link bracelet, the watch is an epitome of elegance and sophistication. Black in colour, the look of the dial is accentuated by the presence of applied gold-fashioned stars, which are spread at an oblique angle. With dauphine shaped hour and minute hands, the appearance of the watch is further enhanced. The stationary bezel has been embellished with 28 round diamonds, set to entice the woman who demands more than just functionality from her watch. A domed scratch resistant sapphire crystal protects the unique dial and makes the watch virtually shatterproof. Coated with an anti-reflective treatment on the inside, you can read the time even during bright sunlit days.
The Omega 188.8.131.52.01.001 is powered by the caliber 1376 quartz movement, which helps in achieving greater efficiency. Water resistant to a depth of 100 metres, the watch remains unaffected even if it is worn during activities like snorkelling and swimming. With an impressive battery life of 48 months, the watch can function flawlessly for a long period of time.
The Constellation Collection by Omega was launched in 1952, has since been renowned for its ultra precise movements and elegantly refined cases. Century, a limited edition wristwatch unveiled in 1948 on the firm’s 100th anniversary, is the progenitor of the collection. Due to the overwhelming response received by this watch, the brand launched the Constellation collection, which imbibed the same qualities. In 1982, the Constellation “Manhattan” was launched, with which the four claws or “griffes” were introduced that keeps the sapphire crystal case intact to securely render the watch waterproof.
The Omega Constellation collection has been exemplified in several sub collections that include the Gents’ Collection, Ladies’ Collection, Orbis Constellation Star, Sedna, and the Luxury Edition. The watches in the Gents’ collection feature distinctive design factors – the renowned claws on the case, horizontal links for utmost comfort, and a Constellation star, which is situated at the 6o’ clock position. Featuring a vast range of watches with different sizes, metals, dials, and diamond options to choose from, the Ladies’ Collection contains at least one watch to suit every wrist. The Orbis Constellation Star supports Orbis International – which gives advanced eye care to some of the most inaccessible regions in the world, and it’s Flying Eye Hospital. An 18-carat rose gold alloy, consisting of copper, palladium, and at least 75% gold, has been used to craft the Constellation Sedna. This breathtaking alloy adds an innovative and stunning appeal to the watch, giving it a long lasting rose-coloured hue. The magnificent Omega Constellation Luxury Edition watches showcase multitude of diamonds in spectacular supernova pattern, which dazzles the eyes of the onlooker.
A gold Omega Constellation “Manhattan” was worn by the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. One of the 20th century’s most popular musicians, cultural icon, actor, and American singer, Elvis Presley had worn a black-dialled Constellation Calendar.
