Louis Brandt, a young watchmaker founded the company in 1848, under the name of La Generale Watch Co. He initially assembled the precision pocket watches with parts that he gathered from local craftsmen. His watches soon saw buyers in countries like Italy and Scandinavia via England. After his demise, his sons continued with his legacy and they established a proper production control system for watches.
The popularity of the brand amplified to such an extent that the La General Watch Co. spun off the brand as its own company, which came to be known as the Omega Watch Co. officially from the year 1903.
Tastefully designed, the Omega Constellation Quartz 35mm 22.214.171.124.01.001 model features a stylish black dial with silver hour and minute hands, as well as silver indexes as hour markers. The date is visible in a wide date aperture strategically positioned at 3’o clock. Perched on 35 mm stainless steel case, the bezel of the watch represents the patented “Griffes” or claws and engraved Roman numerals, which act as hour markers. The watch is presented with a sturdy stainless steel bracelet that comes with a deployant clasp ensuring a secure fit.
Crafted using sapphire crystal, the case window of the watch acts as a perfect shield and safeguards it from all external damages. Moreover, the crystal features anti-reflective coating, which enhances the sunlight legibility to a considerable extent.
Equipped with the OMEGA’s calibre 1532, a precision quartz movement, the watch reads the most accurate time. It comes with rhodium plated finish, which ensures the smoothness of the movement. In addition to that, the timekeeper has an end of battery life indicator, depicted through the successive jumps of the seconds hand. You can bathe, swim and snorkel wearing the watch as it has a water resistance of 100 m. It also features a power reserve of 25 months.
The Constellation Collection by Omega was launched in 1952, has since been renowned for its ultra precise movements and elegantly refined cases. Century, a limited edition wristwatch unveiled in 1948 on the firm’s 100th anniversary, is the progenitor of the collection. Due to the overwhelming response received by this watch, the brand launched the Constellation collection, which imbibed the same qualities. In 1982, the Constellation “Manhattan” was launched, with which the four claws or “griffes” were introduced that keeps the sapphire crystal case intact to securely render the watch waterproof.
The Omega Constellation collection has been exemplified in several sub collections that include the Gents’ Collection, Ladies’ Collection, Orbis Constellation Star, Sedna, and the Luxury Edition. The watches in the Gents’ collection feature distinctive design factors – the renowned claws on the case, horizontal links for utmost comfort, and a Constellation star, which is situated at the 6o’ clock position. Featuring a vast range of watches with different sizes, metals, dials, and diamond options to choose from, the Ladies’ Collection contains at least one watch to suit every wrist. The Orbis Constellation Star supports Orbis International – which gives advanced eye care to some of the most inaccessible regions in the world, and it’s Flying Eye Hospital. An 18-carat rose gold alloy, consisting of copper, palladium, and at least 75% gold, has been used to craft the Constellation Sedna. This breathtaking alloy adds an innovative and stunning appeal to the watch, giving it a long lasting rose-coloured hue. The magnificent Omega Constellation Luxury Edition watches showcase multitude of diamonds in spectacular supernova pattern, which dazzles the eyes of the onlooker.
A gold Omega Constellation “Manhattan” was worn by the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. One of the 20th century’s most popular musicians, cultural icon, actor, and American singer, Elvis Presley had worn a black-dialled Constellation Calendar.
