The Constellation collection of Omega watches launched in the 20th century exhibits the most dynamic timepieces. The timekeepers have gone through a complete revamp in the year 2009, but the two signature features of the collection have still been retained. One is the famous “Griffes” or claws on the bezel and the other is the star positioned at 6 o’ clock.
The Omega Constellation Co-Axial 35 mm 184.108.40.206.02.001 model is designed artistically to suit the taste of modern day men. The striking silver dial comes ensconced in a 35 mm stainless steel case and features silver toned indexes as hour markers as well as silver hour hands. You can view the date at the date aperture strategically placed at the 3 ‘o clock position. The silver bezel has “Griffes” or claws, which are common to all the timepieces of the Constellation series. It also has Roman numerals engraved on it acting as hour markers. The silver bracelet is perfectly complemented with the dial and exhibits a bar design, which adds an elegant touch to the watch.
Crafted using domed sapphire crystal, the case window rigorously protects the watch safeguarding it from regular wear and tear. Moreover, the anti reflective coating of the watch offers enhanced sunlight legibility. You can enjoy viewing the intrinsic movements of the watch through its transparent caseback.
The watch reads the most accurate time owing to its Co-Axial Calibre 2500, a self winding movement with a rhodium plated finish. It has an amazing power reserve of 48 hours. You can go swimming, diving or snorkelling wearing the watch without any tension of damage, as it is water resistant to a depth of 100 metres.
The Constellation Collection by Omega was launched in 1952, has since been renowned for its ultra precise movements and elegantly refined cases. Century, a limited edition wristwatch unveiled in 1948 on the firm’s 100th anniversary, is the progenitor of the collection. Due to the overwhelming response received by this watch, the brand launched the Constellation collection, which imbibed the same qualities. In 1982, the Constellation “Manhattan” was launched, with which the four claws or “griffes” were introduced that keeps the sapphire crystal case intact to securely render the watch waterproof.
The Omega Constellation collection has been exemplified in several sub collections that include the Gents’ Collection, Ladies’ Collection, Orbis Constellation Star, Sedna, and the Luxury Edition. The watches in the Gents’ collection feature distinctive design factors – the renowned claws on the case, horizontal links for utmost comfort, and a Constellation star, which is situated at the 6o’ clock position. Featuring a vast range of watches with different sizes, metals, dials, and diamond options to choose from, the Ladies’ Collection contains at least one watch to suit every wrist. The Orbis Constellation Star supports Orbis International – which gives advanced eye care to some of the most inaccessible regions in the world, and it’s Flying Eye Hospital. An 18-carat rose gold alloy, consisting of copper, palladium, and at least 75% gold, has been used to craft the Constellation Sedna. This breathtaking alloy adds an innovative and stunning appeal to the watch, giving it a long lasting rose-coloured hue. The magnificent Omega Constellation Luxury Edition watches showcase multitude of diamonds in spectacular supernova pattern, which dazzles the eyes of the onlooker.
A gold Omega Constellation “Manhattan” was worn by the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. One of the 20th century’s most popular musicians, cultural icon, actor, and American singer, Elvis Presley had worn a black-dialled Constellation Calendar.
