An upgrade of the 1982 range, the Constellation collection by Omega has become a name associated with the instantly identifiable “griffes” or claws, which the brand had launched with the Constellation Manhattan range. 2009 saw the collection get revamped with the addition of new models to attract a new range of customers.Strongly inspired by its iconic ancestors, the range is characterised by distinct features like dynamic dials, a star placed at the 6 o’clock position and claws added on the outer ring for aesthetic value.
Meant exclusively for women, the timepiece is refined in appearance and uses minimalist design for an enhanced appearance. The 22.214.171.124.51.002 model exudes an unrivalled charm. The use of a black dial, enclosed within a 27 mm stainless steel case, provides a perfect contrast between the body and the dial. Decorated with a supernova pattern, the dial appears stunning. 12 sparkling round diamonds are used for marking the hours. These precious stones have been picked out on the basic of 4 Cs of quality-cut, colour, carat and clarity. The bezel is stationary with engraved Roman numerals to make the timepiece appear sporty. Protected by a sapphire crystal, the face of the watch is completely scratch resistant. There is a coating of anti-reflective treatment on the inside of the crystal, which virtually eliminates glare.
At the heart of the watch lies the Omega 1376 caliber, a Quartz precision movement with a rhodium plating for an exceptional finish. This ensures singular accuracy and reliability. Being water resistant to a depth of 100 metres, the timepiece will not get damaged even when used during activities like snorkelling or swimming. A power reserve of 41 months makes sure that the model lasts for a long time without having to change the battery.
The Constellation Collection by Omega was launched in 1952, has since been renowned for its ultra precise movements and elegantly refined cases. Century, a limited edition wristwatch unveiled in 1948 on the firm’s 100th anniversary, is the progenitor of the collection. Due to the overwhelming response received by this watch, the brand launched the Constellation collection, which imbibed the same qualities. In 1982, the Constellation “Manhattan” was launched, with which the four claws or “griffes” were introduced that keeps the sapphire crystal case intact to securely render the watch waterproof.
The Omega Constellation collection has been exemplified in several sub collections that include the Gents’ Collection, Ladies’ Collection, Orbis Constellation Star, Sedna, and the Luxury Edition. The watches in the Gents’ collection feature distinctive design factors – the renowned claws on the case, horizontal links for utmost comfort, and a Constellation star, which is situated at the 6o’ clock position. Featuring a vast range of watches with different sizes, metals, dials, and diamond options to choose from, the Ladies’ Collection contains at least one watch to suit every wrist. The Orbis Constellation Star supports Orbis International – which gives advanced eye care to some of the most inaccessible regions in the world, and it’s Flying Eye Hospital. An 18-carat rose gold alloy, consisting of copper, palladium, and at least 75% gold, has been used to craft the Constellation Sedna. This breathtaking alloy adds an innovative and stunning appeal to the watch, giving it a long lasting rose-coloured hue. The magnificent Omega Constellation Luxury Edition watches showcase multitude of diamonds in spectacular supernova pattern, which dazzles the eyes of the onlooker.
A gold Omega Constellation “Manhattan” was worn by the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. One of the 20th century’s most popular musicians, cultural icon, actor, and American singer, Elvis Presley had worn a black-dialled Constellation Calendar.
