In 1982, OMEGA launched the Constellation Manhattan, which marked the genesis of the iconic claws and the striking dials. Each watch in this collection is different in its own way and each of them is crafted with great aplomb. This collection is sporty yet elegant, and has given an all new dimension to watchmaking craftsmanship since the day it was born.
The Constellation collection has a smooth, balletic design and this stunning model truly encompasses the brand’s refined sense of art. The simple yet alluring timepiece is truly eye catching. The mother-of-pearl dial is spruced up with the iconic wavy pattern. The dial is adorned with diamond indexes which are protected by a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The 24 mm stainless steel case has a matching stainless steel bezel which has been engraved with Roman numerals. The matching stainless steel bracelet adds to the elegant look of the watch.
The watch is powered by the OMEGA Calibre 1376, a quartz precision movement that delivers exceptional accuracy and precision. The movement has a rhodium plated finish and has a power reserve of 41 months. The vaulted scratch resistant sapphire crystal has anti reflective treatment on both the sides which diminishes the reflection of sun rays on the dial. The watch is water resistant up to 100 meters and comes with a warranty of 2 years.
Omega has been the official time keeper of Olympic Games since 1932 and has been preferred by Britain’s Royal Flying Corps and the American Army. A few of the celebrities associated with OMEGA include George Clooney, Nichole Kidman and Abhishek Bachchan.
The Constellation Collection by Omega was launched in 1952, has since been renowned for its ultra precise movements and elegantly refined cases. Century, a limited edition wristwatch unveiled in 1948 on the firm’s 100th anniversary, is the progenitor of the collection. Due to the overwhelming response received by this watch, the brand launched the Constellation collection, which imbibed the same qualities. In 1982, the Constellation “Manhattan” was launched, with which the four claws or “griffes” were introduced that keeps the sapphire crystal case intact to securely render the watch waterproof.
The Omega Constellation collection has been exemplified in several sub collections that include the Gents’ Collection, Ladies’ Collection, Orbis Constellation Star, Sedna, and the Luxury Edition. The watches in the Gents’ collection feature distinctive design factors – the renowned claws on the case, horizontal links for utmost comfort, and a Constellation star, which is situated at the 6o’ clock position. Featuring a vast range of watches with different sizes, metals, dials, and diamond options to choose from, the Ladies’ Collection contains at least one watch to suit every wrist. The Orbis Constellation Star supports Orbis International – which gives advanced eye care to some of the most inaccessible regions in the world, and it’s Flying Eye Hospital. An 18-carat rose gold alloy, consisting of copper, palladium, and at least 75% gold, has been used to craft the Constellation Sedna. This breathtaking alloy adds an innovative and stunning appeal to the watch, giving it a long lasting rose-coloured hue. The magnificent Omega Constellation Luxury Edition watches showcase multitude of diamonds in spectacular supernova pattern, which dazzles the eyes of the onlooker.
A gold Omega Constellation “Manhattan” was worn by the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. One of the 20th century’s most popular musicians, cultural icon, actor, and American singer, Elvis Presley had worn a black-dialled Constellation Calendar.
