The winged hour glass logo of the watch brand Longines is globally well-known. Based in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, their logo was the first watchmakers' trademark to get registered. Owned by the Swatch Group LTD., the company specializes in manufacturing ‘Aviator’ watches. They are known to have produced the world’s first automated timekeeper. The first watch that was taken to the Arctic region by an explorer was also manufactured by this very same brand. Known for their capability to manufacture watches with different looks and designs, the company stands as a mark of quality and genuineness.
Among the many handsome ranges that the company has to offer, The Longines Saint-Imier Collection provides you with a wide range of choices.
L2.7126.96.36.199, from the Longines Saint-Imier Collection, is an epitome of beauty and balance. This timepiece has been a favourite amongst watch connoisseurs and it celebrates masculinity to the core. The watch is constructed in a pink gold and stainless steel case of 41mm. It has a see through case back allowing you to admire the intricate workings. The bezel is crafted from 18k pink gold. With hands polished in rose gold, the round white dial has indexes and highlighted Arabic numeral at 12 o’ clock. It is protected by scratch resistant sapphire crystal, for greater durability. The beautifully interlinked bracelet is made of rose gold and steel. This timepiece has a simple design which is powerful enough to grab everyone’s attention, making it a perfect example of what is called ‘natural beauty’.
This model offers chronographic functions along with a date display aperture, present between the fourth and fifth hours, thereby increasing the functionality of the watch. Powered with an automatic mechanical movement, the watch keeps time with undisputable accuracy. It is water resistant up to 30m, making it capable of enduring small spills and splashes of water.
Be it in sporting competitions to decide the accuracy until a fraction of a second or on the wrists of world leaders, Longines watches have come to define a class by themselves. The company has been located in Saint Imier, a Swiss village since 1832 and has long-standing ties with the same. Being the lone watchmaker that was set up in St.Imier, it remains true to its historical values of tradition, elegance and sport. Therefore, it was only fitting that the company should launch a collection true to its native village.
This collection comes in elegant round-shaped cases. The materials used to craft the cases are mostly 18 carat pink gold or stainless steel. The bracelet is either made of stainless steel or alligator strap. The glass coating of the watch is a scratch-resistant, skillfully made sapphire crystal. An anti-reflection coating is provided on the underside of the glass. This makes sure that it can be used even in the sunniest of weather.
Adding to its all-purpose use, this watch comes with a water resistant capacity of up to 3 bars of pressure. In terms of functions, the watch has a self-winding mechanical movement beating at 28'800 vibrations per hours and providing 40 hours of power reserve. Some other watches in this collection provide up to 54 hours of power reserve. Certain watches in this collection have a chronograph mechanism. The hours are marked in Arabic numerals and indexes with Super-LumiNova coating for low light visibility.
A long line of celebrities has been associated with Longines. Simon Baker, the lead actor in The Mentalist, wore the Saint- Imier model L2.7188.8.131.52, a stainless steel and 18 carat gold watch with self-winding mechanical movement, date and column-wheel chronograph L688 in his first promotional shoot as a Longines ambassador.
