Functioning from it headquarter at Saint-Imier, Longines manufactures and markets a range of world class timing instruments and wristwatches. Its winged hourglass insignia, a much recognised trademark of the brand, has graced the hands of many famous celebrities and personalities. Setup in the year 1832, by Auguste Agassiz, some of the brand’s long line of accomplishments include the use of timers in the 1896 modern Olympics, the introduction of automatic timekeeping at the 1912 Federal Gymnastics, and the creation of the “Aviators” line of timekeepers.
Part of the Conquest line of watches, the L3.218.104.22.168 model by Longines, is a stylish but efficient timepiece. Design-wise, this state-of-the-art creation sports a 29.35mm case, made of stainless steel, with a sturdy screw-down case back for company. It has a mother of pearl dial with lightly brushed silver hands for its hour, minute, and seconds’ functions. Instead of conventional markers, this Longines timekeeper sports hour-markers set with diamonds. Apart from this precious stone decoration, the dial also sports date display window at the third hour. An easy-to-hold crown lends this piece with durability, while ensuring swift change of hands. Again, lending the piece with resilience and attractiveness is the watch’s fixed white bezel in ceramic.
The strap of this simple, but elegant watch, also in stainless steel, sports a deployment system of closure with push-piece opening. It also features an outer rim of minute markings for greater time display utility, and sapphire crystal lens for protection of the dial.
As part of the brand’s precision performance, this Longines creation runs on high-tech quartz movement. In addition to its advanced movement, the date window feature renders wearers with quick date revision, and convenient use. The L3.222.214.171.124 model is water-resistant to a depth of about 300m, and can handle hand-washing, car-washing, swimming, and even snorkelling.
The Longines Sport collection of watches celebrates the brand’s deep connections with all forms of sport since the launch of 20H, its first chronographic movement, in 1878. With the creation of multiple precise timekeeping instruments, Longines established its dominance in all things athletic, such as the Belmont Stakes, of which it is the official timekeeper. More notably, Longines was the official timekeeper of the first Modern Olympics, a fact which is commemorated by the Conquest sub-collection. The second variation of this line, the Hydroconquest, was created for divers across the globe. The Longines Sport, hence, embodies a unique blend of contemporary technology and enduring elegance, making it a favourite with the athletic watch aficionados.
Watches from the Longines Sport collection have a distinctive sporty appeal with their enlarged bezels available in multiple shades such as black, red, blue and silver. Their perfectly circular cases are made of stainless steel for long-enduring elegance. Pronounced extensions from the case house the crown and additional screws in each watch of this collection. Their crowns are fluted to impart an element of rugged appeal to the ensemble, as well as to ensure a secure grip while adjusting time. Protected by sapphire crystal casing, certain models boast multiple layers of anti-reflective coating for an unhampered view of time. The circular dials vary in tone from white to black, including unique shades of blue and mother of pearl. Hourly intervals of time are marked by new-age Arabic numerals and simple indexes, while specific versions are studded with brilliant diamonds. Longines adorns the bezels of some of these watches with diamonds as well for a glamorous dimension. Most watches come with exquisite dual-toned bracelets, while others sport durable rubber straps.
Most timepieces from the Longines Sport line come equipped with immaculate quartz movement for precise timekeeping functionality. Chronographic features on some of these watches, with multiple sub-dials and tracks, in addition to rectangular date windows, allow for an advanced horologic experience. Water resistant up to a depth of 300 metres, this collection offers true divers watches, upholding the Longines heritage.
