The IWC Ingenieur collection was crafted with a different technical approach in order to revolutionize the watch designs. The collection consists of distinctly modern wrist watches, meant to win the heart of all the watch enthusiasts from across the globe.
The IWC Ingenieur IW378509 timepiece for men exudes masculine grandeur and sophistication, and is efficiently clubbed with high-end performance for, which the brand is highly esteemed. This sporty yet luxe watch showcases a satin finished stainless steel case and stationary bezel. Being stunningly etched out with such details as black filled Tachymeter scale, luminous blue hands and index hour markers, this silver plated dial is crafted for a class of gentlemen who are looking for distinctive timepieces. The dial is housed with fine concentric circles – steel polished rimmed sub-dials, silver sub-dials having a flat as well as textured concentric circle perimeters. The design of mark Red “60” is taken from the digital display, which appears on the steering wheel of the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team Racing Car.
The fine rubber strap is finely attached to the case of the watch that not only provides comfort to the wrist, but also a firm grip at the same time.
The IWC Ingenieur IW378509 timepiece for men, features a “Flyback” function, which allows for a quick restarting of the chronograph using the single push button. Apart from the usual time displaying features, the dial of this beautifully crafted watch, houses such features as a date display window, and a sub-dial of the small running seconds’ hand placed at the 6 o’clock position. Apart from the large central seconds sub-dial, there is also a chronograph sub-dial positioned at the 12 o’clock position of the dial. The watch contains 38 jewels and is powered with calibre 89361 along with 68 hours of power reserve. This watch can easily withstand heavy downpour and accidental water splashes as it is made water-resistant to a depth of 120 metres. Also, the scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass case protects the dial from unwanted scratches.
The IWC Ingenieur collection was born and perfected as an answer to cumbersome drawbacks from using too many technical appliances in wristwatches. These watches were designed to reduce ill-effects caused by magnetic fields encountered by engineers. Extensive modifications to stem this problem and a unique bidirectional automatic movement by Albert Pellaton paved the way for the Ingenieur collection’s launch in 1955. The ingenious winding system perfected by Pellaton winds movement when the rotor moves either way, infinitely more efficient than the common restrictive unidirectional movement. The most distinctive Ingenieur watch of that period however, was crafted by the watch-making maestro Gerald Genta, who infused brilliant engineering in the making of the Ingenieur SL or Jumbo Ingenieur as it is often called.
The Ingenieur novelty lies in capturing succinctly the essence of that which it emulates. IWC famously partnered with Mercedes AMG in year 2005 and brought forth two titanium cased models creatively emulating race-car styles. The 2013 Ingenieur watch collection showers more affection on the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 collaboration. The watch exudes performance efficiency, energy conservation and sporty appeal. Materials such as ceramic, titanium and carbon commonly used in Formula One have been incorporated in this collection to showcase their strong bond. An ideal example of this is the Ingenieur Automatic Carbon Performance Ceramic which has been styled primarily from material typically used in motor racing.
IWC Schaffhausen grandly celebrated its partnership with the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team by putting up an exclusive pop-up exhibition in The Watch Gallery at Selfridges Wonder Room, London in May 2013. The exhibition proudly displayed the suave new look of the remodelled 2013 Ingenieur collection. IWC also celebrated the unveiling of two brand new models in the year 2014 in Schaffhausen, the Ingenieur Automatic Carbon Performance Ceramic as well as Ingenieur Dual Time.
