Featuring huge power reserves, and high water resistance with SafeDive immunity, make the IWC Aquatimer Collection an emblem for adventurous underwater sports. Inheriting the impeccable design of the first Aquatimer crafted in 1967, the collection reinvents underwater sports with new innovative features of “Sliding Clutch SafeDive”, ensuring the proper safety of its wearer in deep sea levels. The Aquatimer collection also pays tribute to the renowned researcher and film-maker, Jacques Cousteau, for his brilliant research on Galapagos marine Iguanas.
The IWC Aquatimer IW329001, the modern diver’s watch is a one of a kind, superb embodiment of adventurous underwater sports in one single timepiece. It features super clutch dual rotating bezels, working simultaneously with the continuously changing underwater pressure at deep sea levels. The 42mm silver case, crafted entirely out of steel, with polished bevelled corners render the timepiece with alluring looks. A black lacquered finish dial complements the inner detailing of the bezel, with a brilliant finish of its luminous indices along with appliquéd Arabic numerals as the hour markers of the watch. Super LumiNova silver toned hands increase the dial readability under deep sea levels.
A silver Herringbone steel bracelet attached to the silver lugs of the bezel enhances the beauty of this timepiece.
Featuring a power reserve of 42 hours, the IWC Aquatimer IW329001 is driven by a self wounded Swiss IWC 30120 calibre. Embedded with water-resistant mechanism for a depth of 300 metres, it can withstand deep aquatic water levels. The SafeDive “sliding clutch” feature ensures the diver with a proper diving session, however adjusting accordingly by its dual interacting bezels in accordance with the water pressure of 30 bars. It also features a black date display window located at the 3 o’ clock dial position. Enumerating a whisk of a luxury watch with decent sportive features, this time keeper goes well on a wide range of dresses and is apt for various occasions.
1967 saw the birth of the pioneer IWC Schaffhausen Aquatimer watch which had impressive specifications for its time, sporting an internal rotating bezel and water-resistance up to 20 bar. The consecutive launches of GST Deep One, Two and Three have seen remarkable technology being implemented in this diver’s collection of watches. The GST Deep One was the inaugural watch featuring a mechanical depth gauge in the IWC brand.
Aquatimer Deep Three lays down formidable competition to other watches in the form of an external rotating bezel cut from Sapphire glass which has a coating of Super-LumiNova on the underside. The Aquatimer 2014 collection gives off a more sophisticated and purist air using only subdued colours. An ingenious mechanism called the SafeDive system has been introduced in the new collection which consists of the internal/external rotating bezel. This ensures that dive time is not exceeded even if the external bezel is accidentally moved, as the internal bezel only sustains anti-clockwise movement. These watches lay claim to not only being one of the best diver watches around, but also are prominent at special occasions and office wear.
In keeping with the true diver spirit and generosity, the IWC Aquatimer has through the ages extensively supported the Charles Darwin Foundation and the Charles Darwin Research station. The collection also enjoys a deep connection to Jacques Cousteau, researcher and film-maker, whose extensive work on the Galapagos marine Iguanas is widely acclaimed and watched. The Aquatimer Chronograph Edition ‘Expedition Charles Darwin’ was launched to commemorate the veteran naturalist’s findings in biodiversity at the Galapagos Islands. Showcasing deep attachment to the ocean and its accessories, bronze has been used to make the watch case for the first time in this company. It was commonly used in alloy form in building ships in the 19th century. This collection has seen diversity in the form of myriad fans at its famed launches such as American actor and director, Kevin Spacey, Czech model and actress, Karolina Kurkorva, Portuguese footballer, Luis Figo, Swiss professional road bicycle racer, Fabian Cancellara, to name a few.
Hollywood star Ewan McGregor delivered a soulful opening line at the launch of the new Aquatimer collection, ‘14 in Geneva – ‘Time may be a gift, but it is a priceless one’. The celebration named ‘Inside the wave’ took its audience on an enthralling journey below the ocean surface. The stars of the show were the Cirque du Soleil, the largest theatrical producer in the world.
