The year 2009 saw Frederique Constant reach a new milestone, when the brand introduced the Runabout range of intricately designed timepieces. Meant to pay homage to the iconic gentlemen’s boats of the 1920s, the watches from this range symbolise elegance, skilled craftsmanship and great attention to detail.
With just 1,888 units of the watch in the world, owning the FC-303RV6B6 model ensures you of possessing a horological artwork. First added to the Runabout range in 2010, this timepiece is a perfect blend of classicism and modernity. Pure styling in the form of minimalist designs and technological innovations in the form of the FC-303 caliber has been used to make the timepiece a favourite among watch enthusiasts across the globe.
Resolutely contemporary, the FC-303RV6B6 model is presented on an elegant brown leather strap. With a case diameter of 43 mm, the timepiece exudes masculinity and is far from shy. The appearance of the silver guilloche patterned dial is further accentuated with the use of rose gold-tone dauphine hour and minute hands. Brown coloured Arabic numeral hour markers adorn the face of the timepiece to perfectly complement the hue of the strap. The presence of minute calibrations on the perimeter and a small date window at the 3 o’clock position of the dial lends the watch a sporty look. With bevelled edges, this timepiece ensures comfort even if you were it the entire day. Capable of complementing both casual and formal wear, the timepiece can be worn with a wide style of wardrobe.
Capable of withstanding ocean pressure to a depth of 100 metres, this timepiece can endure activities like swimming and snorkelling. Unrivalled in its precision, the watch functions with the help of an automatic movement beating at 28'800 alt/h. With 26 jewels used in the making of the mechanism, friction is reduced and the watch does not require frequent lubrication.
The 1920s were a time of leisurely gentlemen’s sports and chief among these was runabout racing. Runabouts are sleek, wooden boats built for speed and power. To celebrate the timeless beauty of these masterpieces Frederique Constant introduced the Runabout collection, with each watch being designed with an easy, casual elegance matching that of a runabout.
The Runabout collection from Frederique Constant comprises elegant timepieces including automatic, chronograph and moonphase watches. Each timepiece in this collection is equipped with a crococalf strap with exquisite finishing. The silver coloured dial of each of these watches comes with applied Arabic indexes. Further enhancing the elegance of the design are the Guilloche patterns on the dial. The convex sapphire lens of these watches provides great resistance to scratches and external wear and tear.
Over the years, Frederique Constant has been associated with numerous charitable foundations, donating parts of its profits from different collections to organisations like International Children’s Heart Foundation, American Heart Association and many more. The Runabout Moonphase Riva Historical Society Limited Edition Collection launched in co-operation with Riva Historical Society too is one such endeavour. The Riva Historical Society works towards locating and preserving the runabout boats manufactured by Carlo Riva and this limited edition collection was launched with an aim to creat awareness and funds for the project. The company has been supporting and sponsoring several runabout boating events including the Helice Classique Geneve and the Lake Tahoe Concours D’Elegance in recent years.
