Frederique Constant was established as a luxury watch manufacturer in 1988 by Alleta Bax and Peter Sas. With the company manufacturing 120,000 watches annually, it has established itself as a considerable force in the market. In February 2007, the brand began producing the Silicium escapement wheel, which further solidified its position as one of the leading manufacturers of quality Swiss watches. First introduced in 2011, the Index Worldtimer Quartz Mens Watch FC-255S6B6 Model is a unique piece of horological artwork, famous amongst connoisseurs for its appearance as well as technological innovations.
Presented on a black crococalf leather strap with water resistant beige Calfskin backing, the timepiece has an exceptional finish and elaborate detailing. Housed within a 42 mm stainless steel case is a unique white dial, which accentuates the look of the timepiece and gives it a raw masculine charm. Capable of complementing both formal and casual wear, the FC-255S6B6 model can be worn regularly.
The dial is divided into two distinct spheres with stick indexes on the inner sphere serving as hour markers while the outer rim is decorated with the names of different cities, enabling the timepiece to be adjusted according to different time zones. A small rectangular window at the 3 o’clock position clearly displays the current date, which changes instantaneously at midnight. Being lightweight and bevelled edged, the timekeeper is an extremely comfortable wear and feels like an extension of your own arm. Coated with an anti-reflective treatment, a scratch resistant sapphire crystal serves as the face of the watch and protects the dial from damage. The coating ensures readability even in the brightest hours as it virtually eliminates glare.
At the heart of the timepiece lies the FC-255 caliber, which makes it unrivalled in terms of precision and reliability. With a battery life of 2-3 years, the watch has an immense power reserve. Owing to its ability to withstand ocean pressure to a depth of 60 meters, the timepiece is suitable for light splashing and occasional rain showers as it does not get adversely impacted when it comes in contact with liquid.
Founded in 1988, Frederique Constant is one of the finest manufacturers of luxury wrist-watches, based in Geneva. From the initial design to the final assembly, the Company manufactures each wristwatch in-house. Since 2002, Frederique Constant has also owned Alpina Watches, a Swiss Sports Company, founded in 1883. With as many as nine ranges, the Classics collection from the company has something to offer to every watch enthusiast.
The Art Deco Collection
The Art Deco movement influenced the fashion circles in the 1920s and 30s, when people started experimenting with different styles and freed themselves from the conventions of age old trends. It was a period characterised by uninhibited freedom. The collection pays tribute to that time period. The name of the collection has been derived from the title of an exhibition in Paris, called the ‘Exposition des Arts Décoratifs’, in 1925. Primarily a women’s collection, it makes use of oval and tonneau dials as opposed to the typical round dials.
The Automatic Collection
With an eye for perfection, watchmakers at Frederique Constant design horological artworks, which finds its way into the collection of every watch aficionado across the globe. Clean subtly sculpted lines and a classic appearance are the marks of every watch within the Automatic Collection. Featured here is a GMT watch from the classic series. The GMT watch with a extra hand enables dual time function for the timepiece across the countries mentioned in the bezel. 43mm is fairly sized and fits medium to big hands perfectly..the roman numerals that provide a luxury touch is missing and replaced by bland classic indices on the white dial.
The movement is a high calibre Swiss quartz with a battery life of 25 months even with the GMT an date function. The black leather strap adds a feel of the watch.
Overall verdict: a reliable gmt watch from a reputed watch house at a reasonable price.
