The Cartier Tortue time piece, dedicated to the distinctive shape of a tortoise’s shell, carries on its case the distinguished octagonal crown set with a faceted sapphire. Its dial is silvered guilloche, imbued with the sunray effect that endears this time piece and makes it an experience for all the watch lovers. The dial is equipped with sword shaped hands made from blue steel that add a splash of colour to the time piece. Its bracelet is made from 18 carat pink gold to perfectly suit the case material.
The Cartier Tortue watch model W1556366 with its delicate curves and radiant rhodium finish, is the quintessential ladies watch. It houses the Cartier calibre 430 MC, a mechanical movement with manual winding. A 39 mm case diameter packs an 18 carat pink gold case with a thickness of 8.6 mm and width of 31 mm, a perfectly dimensioned watch making it a comfortable daily wear accessory. This watch contains the hours, minutes and seconds functions with minimalist charm. The case has been proven to be water resistant up to 30 meters under water.
Cartier has derived inspiration from women leaders and contributors to society for the crafting of their remarkable Ladies wristwatches. To pay tribute to women who have initiative, and recognize them as a source of inspiration, the Cartier Maison teamed up with the Women’s Forum, McKinsey & Company and INSEAD business school in 2006, to create the Cartier’s Women’s initiative Awards. Every year this international business plan competition awards a female entrepreneur from each of the six regions (Latin America, North America, Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East and North Africa and Asia Pacific). The six final Laureates each receive one year of coaching, US $20,000 in funding and media exposure. Thus this contest is aimed at creative start-ups that are not only financially viable but also socially responsible and are run by all women of any nationality and sector.
The Tortue collection was officially launched in 1912. The collection with its tortoise inspired case became a gamechanger in terms of design among its typically round-shaped contemporaries.
This unique collection showcases edgy designs yet retains all the signature qualities of a Cartier. The characteristic feature of this collection is the tonneau-shaped case available in pink or white gold, which drew its inspiration from a tortoise shell. The strap meant to supplement the quiet sophistication of the case, is offered in textile or leather.
The dynamic Tortue collection stands out for the myriad functions that it avails for its user. Select models feature a perpetual calendar with an easy-to-read display. The days of the week are indicated with a charming retrograde hand. A multiple time zone indicator is also available in a few of these luxury watches with an option to change the time zone as and when necessity arises; thus making it the ideal collection for a globe trotter. Some pieces also come with a 24-hour time indicator with adjustment for summers and winters. You can choose from automatic and manual watch movements for precise timekeeping.
