Cartier was established in 1847 by Louis-Francois Cartier, as a continuation of the work done by his master, Adolphe Picard. Cartier was largely responsible for the promotion of wristwatches for men amongst Parisian society, and received patronage from mighty personalities such as Princess Mathilde, Napoleon III’s first cousin. The past 160 years have witnessed the evolution of this brand from a humble jewellery workshop to a maestro in fine watchmaking, satisfying the requirements of the elite from over the world.
The Tank collection was first made by Louis Cartier in 1917, as a gift for General John Pershing of the American Expeditionary Force, to commemorate the Renault tanks used by the Western Front in World War I. With sharp lines and seamless features, the collection is an iconic jewel in the history of watchmaking.
The Tank Francaise model number W51005Q4 for men, boasts the line’s inimitable rectangular case made of steel with dimensions 36.5 x 28.15 mm and a thickness of merely 7.45 mm. A silvered and flinqued opaline white dial complements the elegance of the ensemble, with blued steel sword shaped hands tracing out the time with exact precision. The 18K yellow gold crown is faceted to have eight sides, and is inlaid with a blue synthetic cabochon shaped spinel. Its bracelet is two toned with alternating linkages of 18K yellow gold and steel, with a triple folding steel buckle for optimum security.
Operating on mechanical movements with automatic winding powered by Cartier’s calibre 120, the watch offers contemporary technology to complement its aesthetic finery. A calendar window located at 6 o’clock provides advanced horologic functionality. Water resistant to a depth of 30 metres, the watch is protected by sapphire crystal glass to make it scratch proof.
Inspired by a round wristwatch introduced into the Cartier collection as early as 1943, the Pasha De Cartier collection continues to be a testament to manufacturing innovation coupled with respectful adherence to the aesthetical traditions that mark fine timepieces.
This collection is characterized by a round, water-resistant case which comes in steel, pink gold as well as white gold. A screw-down crown cap is joined to the case by a graceful chain. Mechanical or automatic complications ensure absolute precision in timekeeping. The watchstraps in the collection come in beautiful fabric or high-grade metal.
The watches are so diverse in their styles and sizes that everyone can find something that befits their taste and bearing in life. A piece de resistance from the collection would be the Pasha De Cartier Flying Tourbillon Skeleton Watch- a masterpiece that features intricately unique skeletonization work, sure to leave you spellbound.
The ruggedly handsome hero of ‘The Mask of Zorro’ Antonio Banderas is the proud owner of a timepiece from this magnificent collection. And the celebrity fans for this collection don’t stop here. The bubbly and adorable actor Amanda Bynes is another celebrity who has been seen sporting this splendid collection.
