Product Description
History
Breitling is a premier Swiss company, which produces chronometers. This brand has a long history, which goes back to 1884. Timekeepers from Breitling are popular among aviators, divers, and swimmers as they ensure precision and performance. The model AB012721/BD09/443A is a part of the Navimeter collection from the house of Breitling. The Navimeter was first launched in 1952. Breitling, with the help from a mathematician, developed a slide rule bezel with, which navigators and aviators could calculate complex logarithmic values. With the addition of this feature the watch also performed the function of a calculator. Since its development the Navimeter has undergone several changes but its slide rule bezel is constant even today.
Design
This model has a steel case of 43 mm diameter, which protects the complex dial. The dial is black and has silver toned markers engraved on it. There are three sub dials at the 3, 6 and 9 o’ clock positions to add to the sporty look of the watch. The hour hands and markers have been filled with superluminova to ensure easy readability in dark conditions or even under water.
Stainless steel has also been used in making the bracelet of this chronometer, which has a folding clasp, to ensure a snug fit.
Features
This timepiece is powered by automatic movement, which features 47 jewels, and has a power reserve of up to 70 hours. This timepiece is water resistant up to 30 metres, and thus, can be easily worn during rain without the fear of damage. The dial features a date display window between the 4 and 5 o’ clock position. The highlight of this timepiece is its design, which is best suited for aircraft navigators. The slide rule bezel facilitates calculations done by navigators, such as conversion of distance in kilometers to nautical miles. The Navimeter is the official timekeeper for the Aircraft Owners and Pilot Association, further assuring its precision.
