The classic Blancpain Villeret Ultraplate 6651-1127-55B showcases a round polished stainless steel case with a diameter of 40 mm. This watch is ultra-thin and has a thickness of just 8.7 mm. The flat two tired white dial is protected by a scratch resistant sapphire crystal that renders the watch shatter proof. Stylized Roman numerals in appliqued polished steel mark the hours. You can view the date in the date window, which is situated near the 3 o’ clock position.
Leaf shaped skeletonised hour and minute hands in polished stainless steel and the seconds’ needle, give the watch a refined appearance. The watch is triple signed at the dial, crown, and the buckle. Via the much sought after Villeret collection, Blancpain gives life to a technical giant, a collection that is constantly on the rise and unfailing in its modernism. Named after the native village of Blancpain, Villeret honours the Swiss watch-maker's roots and signifies the long voyage of the company primed in success. Ultimate progressive technology is scooped in with a contemporary face to match, maintaining an addiction to Haute Horlogerie customs that make this collection a complete must have on one's wrist. With an unperturbed penchant for surprises, the Blancpain Villeret family endears itself to the spirited, the technology lovers and mums the critics.
One of the most recent contributions to the Villeret family is the Villeret 8 Day with Grand Feu Enamel Dial, a happy addition to the 2014 collection. This model boasts of an in-house Blancpain movement (Calibre 1335) with a full 8 day power reserve. Grand Feu is an extremely stable material which helps showcase the watches strengthened ties with tradition. The enamel is made by layering pigments and repeatedly firing at high temperatures. In this case, the hour-markers are painted in enamel while construction and not on the enamel as is usually the norm. This ensures that the enamel set paint does not wear off with time as is wont to happen in other watches. The new collection also features a distinctive JB logo engraved in between the IV and V, VII and VIII. As the tale goes, this is a shared secret signature that enamellists have been using traditionally to initial their works.
The Chronograph Pulsometre is the newest feature in the Blancpain Villeret bonnet. This technology consists of a pioneer self-winding movement that beats at a never-before 36,000 vibrations per hour (5 Hz) and is also equipped with a flyback chronograph function. The Pulsometre function bestows to the watch medical expertise by making it possible to display the wearer’s heart beat directly on the dial. The chronograph which is connected to specially graduated scale needs to be started to be able to check one's heart rate.

from the late 1990s to 2003 the brand regained it's image introducing a genre of models with perfect craftsmanship.
The villeret series is a memoir of the native place of blancpain. The brand was first introduced by Jehan Jacques Blancpain in 1735 at Villeret .the series consists of four horological marvels Of which the ultra plate is showcased here. The ultra plate is the entry level of the villeret series featuring a ultra thin stainless steel case of just 8.7mm thick(imagine just 8 sheets of paper) with a top notch calibre 1151 self winding movement made entirely by hand with all intricate details of swiss watchmaking.the roman numerals on the white dial is a mark of simplicity and elegance. The calibre is a 28 jewels self winding movement With a date feature.Feature wise this movement is not something worth mentioning but it's impressive 100 hrs power reserve is quite remarkable (never obtained in a self winding movement) The 40 mm case is moderately sized maintain the heritage enhanced with a 21mm black alligator strap and a double lock clasp.
30m water resistance ensures that the watch is safe from minor water impacts such as rain or wash.not recommended for dining and swimming etc.
Overall verdict :At a price of 6 lakh you get a piece of watch making history and a classic timepiece with impressive power reserve of 100hrs (can be compared to a quartz movement )but if you are looking for feature rich watches, then check out other brands.
