The famous watch brand Breguet is named after its founder A.L Breguet. He was a man with a great talent for making brilliant timepieces. His watches were admired and worn by kings, queens and royalty all over Europe. This included Louis XVI and his queen Marie-Antoinette, Caroline Murat, Napoleon Bonaparte, Tsar Alexander I of Russia, Queen Victoria and many others. The brand even today does not fail to impress watch enthusiasts all around the world.
The Breguet 3810ST929ZU model design for the comfort of men, features a 42 mm steel case, with a matching bezel. The bezel is graduated and can turn. A round dial features Arabic numeral markers and the hands of the watch are coated with luminous material, which allows you to easily read the time even during dim light situations or total darkness. Featuring a brown crocodile strap this watch is very stylish. The brand name is presented on the dial just below the 12 o’clock position. A screw locked crown attached to the side of the watch case, prevents winding by mistake.
This Breguet 3810ST929ZU model features three sub-dials. The seconds sub-dial is placed at the six o’clock position. Just at the bottom of this sub-dial you will find the date aperture. The other two sub-dials include a day and night indicator and a 12-hour totalizer. This timepiece is equipped with the 584 Q caliber and features a self-winding movement, which offers efficiency in time telling. Containing 25 jewels and a power reserve of 48 hours, the watch continues to tell time accurately even if it is not worn for a time period of two days. It has a water resistance of 100 metres, thus you can wear it while swimming or snorkeling.
The Type XX Collection by Breguet was first designed for the French naval air army in the 1950s, to satisfy their need for watches so reliable that their life could depend on it. Featuring either Aeronavale or Transatlantique designs, these timepieces had prominent, easy to read hour markers and displayed time with military precision. Later, Breguet released a civilian version of these timepieces, integrated with a self-winding movement. Based on the original aesthetics of XX, XXI and XXII were launched by Breguet. The major difference between these three collections is the size of the case. In 2010, the Type XXII timepiece was manufactured, consisting of a high frequency movement of 72000 A/h, a feat of marvel that was way ahead of its time.
The sturdy construction and unyielding style of theses watches have made them a favourite among watch connoisseurs who are looking for a technical and original sports watch. For ease in resetting, stopping, and restarting the chronograph function of the watches, they feature a fly-back function that enables you to preform all these operations with just a push of a button. The watches in the Type XXI feature a 24 hour time display and a fly-back minute totaliser at the centre. All the watches in the Transatlantique edition showcase a date window at the 6 o’clock position. Several versions of the Transatlantique watches have also been made for women who appreciate the technical beauty of timepieces as well as the aesthetic.
The instruments in the collection feature a uni-directional rotating bezel in 18 carat Rose gold, white gold, or stainless steel case with bevelled sides, offering a bouquet of choices. The watches feature recessed sub dials with two push buttons at the side along with a signed crown. Further, you can choose from straps made of leather, stainless steel and gold bracelet.
The Type XXII 3880ST was honoured with the Premio Argo’ 2010 award in the Technical category and the Type XXII 3880 received the prestigious Public’s Prize award by Swiss publication, Montres Passion in 2013.

The type XX/Xi Transatlantic is a model existing since 1950s. It's a solid watch with complications worth mention.the movement is a COSC certified high calibre automatic with 3 days power reserve. The flyback chronograph is the identity of the watch. The system ensure that the seconds hand takes the best possible path to minimise the return time (back to zero). Truly amazing indeed. The brown dial and the bold hands are distinguished traits of the elite. The b symbol on the seconds hand is a work of art.the bezel is unidirectional and rotatable. 43mm is fairly sized sapphire crystal glass incorporated is scratch resistant.the brown leather strap supplements the other prominent features and secure fastening is ensure with a double lock clasp.
Final verdict: It's a Breguet (rolex doesnt even stand next to it)and one must buy for the excellent work and the reliable movement if you can afford one.for more info check out talking watches, hodinkee.com
