2005 saw the launch of a new line of timepieces called the Planet Ocean line, under Omega’s Seamaster collection. OMEGA’s maritime legacy was kept in mind while launching this range. Timeless design and elaborate detailing make this timepiece a perfect blend of classicism and modern innovativeness.
The watches belonging to the Planet Ocean range exude a sense of exclusivity and adventure. Meant for seafarers and aquanauts, these watches are crafted in a way that allows them to with-stand substantial water pressure.
State of the art technology and exceptional craftsmanship are characteristics of the timepieces launched under the Planet Ocean range. The Planet Ocean 600 m 184.108.40.206.01.003 is sporty and masculine in appearance, with a black ceramic unidirectional rotating divers’ bezel mounted on a 42 mm stainless steel case, which is further complemented by a black rubber strap. The black dial contained in the case is exquisitely designed with raised hour markers and Arabic numerals at 12 o’ clock, 6 o’ clock and 9 o’ clock. A small window at 3 o’ clock displays the date. Domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides protects the unique dial and makes it anti-glare. The chronometer can be seen through a transparent case back. To ensure readability, the hands and the hour markers have been coated with white Super-LumiNova.
Equipped with the Omega 8500 caliber, the watch is singularly accurate and reliable. The self-winding movement with Co-Axial Escapement ensures that it can withstand magnetic fields up to 15000 gauss. Bridges and the oscillating mass are decorated with exclusive Geneva waves in ara-besque, which can be seen through the transparent back. With a power reserve of 60 hours, this timepiece can be your best friend on land as well as in ocean. This timepiece is water-resistant to a depth of 600 metres, making it the ideal choice for people fond of water sports.
Launched in the year 1948, the Omega Seamaster Collection was inspired by the waterproof watches made toward the end of World War II for the British military. The watches in this collection have acclaimed worldwide fame due to their combination of exceptional stability and awe-inspiring designs. These watches are ideal for serious underwater sports and adventures.
This collection features several amazing series under it. First introduced in 1957, the Seamaster 300 Master Co-axial features the same dark dial, symmetrical case, big numbers and hands, and lighter indexes like its predecessor. The Planet Ocean 600M Collection showcases several watches with stunning designs and exclusive Co-axial movements. The Aqua Terra 150M Gents’ collection is easily recognizable because of its “Teak Concept” pattern on the dials. The Seamaster Aqua Terra Ladies’ Collection was the first to be equipped with the cutting-edge anti-magnetic Omega Master Co-Axial calibres. Available in lacquered black or blue dials, the Diver 300M Collection showcase white skeletonized hour and minute hands. The Ploprof 1200M is equipped with Co-axial caliber 8500 and is water-resistant up to 1200 meters. The winding crown located at the 12 o’clock position, surrounded by the two chronograph pushers at its sides; give the Bullhead collection its unique name.
In the James Bond movies since the release of GoldenEye in 1995, the character has consistently worn an Omega Seamaster. The Omega brand ambassador, Michael Phelps, an Olympic swimmer and multiple times gold medallist, wears the Seamaster Planet Ocean.
